This Film Festival is Streaming Films for Free – Read on to Find out More

The Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) started in 2012 by filmmakers Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam with the purpose of giving the region a taste of indie films. Over the past years it has made a mark amongst audiences globally and attracts hundreds of filmmakers and cinephiles alike.

This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions in place everyone is going through uncertain times. So the DIFF has curated a list of films and made them available for streaming online on their website. The DIFF Viewing Room is a handpicked selection of films made by the DIFF Alumni and is free for everyone to watch regardless of where you live.

The films will be available on their website for two weeks before being updated by a fresh list.

The films that are available to stream until 23rd June are:A Gesar Bard’s Tale (2014) – A documentary on a nomad’s life when an extraordinary transformation at the age of 13 enables him to tell the heroic tale of King Gesar of Tibet.

Amma Meri (2019) – A short film about a father who wanting to get his daughter married is on a quest to put together enough money where the difficulty lies in between choosing his mother’s needs and that of his daughter.

Bebaak (2019) – Based on a true story, it’s about an economically deprived girl, Fatin who faces sexism at a scholarship interview by the religious authority.Ee Ma Yau (2018) – A story about a sudden death in a family living in Chellanam which throws them into confusion as they struggle to arrange his funeral.Eye Test (2017) – A debut short film about a 27 year old girl who goes for an eye checkup after her mother’s demise.

When Hari Got Married (2012) – A rom-com about a small town driver who has an arranged marriage to a girl he’s never met resulting in a confluence of modernity and traditions.
