Netflix announced that the production for its Norwegian superhero fantasy drama Ragnarok season 2 has begun. In season 2 Gods and Giants will get back together in the fictional town of Edda, where the conflict will get more intense this time.
Based on a new twist to Norse mythology, Ragnarok is a coming-of-age drama. As per Netflix, “The second season will pick up where the first season left: What do you do when you’re a 17 year-old high schooler who has just learned that you’re up against an ancient and extremely powerful enemy that is holding an entire town, perhaps even an entire country, in an iron grip?”
The high schooler here is Magne (David Stakston) who has to come face with the fact that he has to be ready for a battle with much stronger enemies. But he is alone and needs to find more like him with supernatural powers within the limited time, will he able to do so? He soon discovers that his little brother Laurits (Jonas Strand Gravli) is also exceptional, but they perceive the world differently, how will that turn out?
In this second season of Ragnarok, “the conflict gets tougher, evil gets more focused, and the choices ever more desperate. In the midst of all this, Magne is faced with the fundamental question: How far are you willing to go in order to save your family?”
Mogens Hagedorn will direct the six-part series which has been written and created by award-winning writer Adam Price (Borgen, Ragnarok s1) and Emilie Lebech Kaae. Ragnarok is produced by Danish screenwriter-based production company, SAM Productions.
The other cast members include Danu Suntharasigamany (Iman), Theresa Frostad Eggesbø (Saxa), Herman Tømmeraas (Fjor), Emma Bones (Gry), Henriette Steenstrup, Odd-Magnus Williamson, Synnøve Macody Lund, Bjørn Sundquist and Gísli Örn Garðarsson. New cast members are Vebjørn Enger (Jens), Benjamin Helstad (Harry), Billie Barker (Signy), Jesper Malm (Odd Moland) and Espen Sigurdsen (Halvor Lange).
