‘Sugar. Spice. Everything Nice. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girls. But Professor Utonium accidentally added an extra ingredient into the concoction…. Chemical X.’ With one of the most iconic openers of all time and epic theme music, The Powerpuff Girls took the world by storm. It depicted three young girls fighting crime and saving the day, acting as a role model for both young girls and boys world wide. Rich with interesting villains and real world moral conundrums, PPG was well ahead of it’s time.
And now The CW has decided to create a live-action version of the hit cartoon television series and is in the development stage. Heather Regnier (writer on Falling Skies) and Diablo Cody (writer of Jennifer’s Body) have been brought on to write and produce the new series. Greg Berlanti (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Sarah Schechter (Stargirl), and David Madden will be executive producers while Warner Bros. Television will also produce.
The series is set a few years into the future, where the Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are now in their twenties. Their eyes have opened to the fact that they were basically child super-celebrities who only solved & fought crime and didn’t take time out of their childhood to just have fun.
The original Power Puff Girls television series was created by Craig McCracken. The show had 6 seasons and ran for 78 episodes from 1998 to 2005.
