A limited series on the life of musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has been ordered. It will be titled ‘Amadeus’ and Will Sharpe will be playing the titular role. Paul Bettany will join him in the role of Antonio Salieri.
Paul Bettany is widely popular for his role as ‘Vision’ in Marvel movies like ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, and the show ‘Wandavision’. Will Sharpe is seen in projects like ‘Giri/Haji’, ‘The White Lotus’, ‘Flowers’ etc.
The movie will be adapted from the much popular stage play of the same name written by dramatist Peter Shaffer. The play deals with the legendary rivalry between the two iconic composers: Salieri and Mozart. The play has already been adapted to a very popular movie with the same title. It was directed by Miloš Forman.
The rivalry between Salieri and Mozart has less historical basis, but over the years it has acquired the status of a legend of the musical fraternity. Peter Shaffer’s ‘Amadeus’ is indeed one of the most entertaining and intriguing story that have ever been written on the lives of composers.
Joe Barton, who has previously worked in Giri/Haji and The Lazarus Project is writing the screenplay of the movie. Amadeus will be directed by Julian Farino. He has previously directed ‘Byron’, ‘The Oranges’, ‘The Child In Time’ etc. The shooting is yet to start and the release dates and other details will be revealed later on.
