Upcoming Tamil language survival thriller film ‘O2‘ starring Nayanthara in the lead role skips the theatres and premieres directly on Disney+ Hotstar tomorrow (17th June). It is one of the most awaited films from the ‘Lady Superstar’ of Tamil Cinema after the recent commercial success of her film ‘Kaathuvakkula Rendu Kaadhal’ directed by Vignesh Shivan co-starring Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha.
The film’s trailer released recently and the film has everything going by on its’ side to be a time-survival two edged thriller set on a bus. The trailer shows that the film revolves around Parvathy (Nayanthara) who gets trapped in a landslide with her ailing son Veera enroute her journey to Kerala to treat her son. She has to keep oxygen flowing through her son’s body but what happens to be just another night in her life turns out to be a nightmare. Will Parvathy and her son manage to survive? How will the passengers support her or act spoilsport in her ordeal with the natural calamity? There are so many interesting questions that came to our mind post the trailer release which is exciting everyway considering how landslide as a natural disaster is minimally used to weave survival thrillers in India.
O2 is Nayanthara’s third film to have a direct digital release on Disney+Hotstar after the super successful ‘Mookuthi Amman’ and ‘Netrikann’. The film is directed by debutant GS Viknesh and co-stars Rithvick, Shaa Ra, RNR Manohar and Ciby. The movie is produced under the banner ‘Dream Warrior Pictures’. Vishal Chandrasekar composed the music and Tamizh A Azhagan handles cinematography.
