Whenever you hear the word Palestine, you are mostly reminded of conflict, war, and refugees, but this Netflix series creator took his own experience of being a Palestinian refugee in the US and made a comedy show of it and that a good one. So much so that Netflix has renewed for it a second season after the positive response from critics and public alike.
We are talking about ‘Mo’ created by Mohammed Amer, who also stars in it, and Ramy Yusuf. The series follows a Palestinian refugee living in Houston, Texas and is currently seeking asylum and citizenship in the US. For this hustler caught between two cultures, the struggle to make ends meet is real.
‘Mo’ has received critical acclaim and holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Netizens have described the show as comical, gutsy and charming. The show is definitely hilarious and the character development is just great. And not only that, the show has multiple heartfelt moments as well. Moreover, the series has won accolades like Gotham Award and Peabody Award.
Mohammed “Mo” Amer, who stars in the titular role and is also one of creators of the show, is known for his Netflix comedy special ‘Mo Amer: The Vagabond’. He also starred in Hulu sitcom ‘Ramy’ and appeared in the film ‘Black Adam’. The series also stars Farah Bsieso, Omar Elba, Teresa Ruiz and Tobe Nwigwe.
If you are looking for something heartfelt, funny and just an easy breezy watch over the weekend, then give ‘Mo’ a go and you won’t regret it.
