Netflix has an exciting lineup of films coming in the remaining four months of 2024 (yeah you read that right, there’s only FOUR months left before 2025 arrives!) Anyways, Netflix has a lot to offer in these coming months and it will definitely keep you engaged.
Whether you want mind blowing thrillers, rib tickling comedy, heartfelt and intimate romance dramas, a walk through the history, riveting documentaries, gripping action, musical crime drama, or holiday classics; there’s something for almost everyone.
While there are a lot of titles that you might already know about, we will mostly focus on the latest film announcements made by Netflix which includes first looks, release dates and more. Don’t worry, we will also list the upcoming movies month wise as well towards the end, for you to have an overview.
First up we have Tyler Perry’s ‘The Six Triple Eight’ that brings to light the story of second world war’s only Women’s Army Corps unit of color. The contribution of this 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion was very unique yet relevant in a different way. Their job was to sort through a three-year backlog of mail (17 million pieces of it!) that hadn’t been delivered to American soldiers far from home. They brought hope to frontline soldiers while handling discrimination in a vast, unfamiliar country divided by global conflict. And these women achieved their mission just within 90 days and that was half the time allotted to them!
Based on a true story, ‘The Six Triple Eight’ stars Kerry Washington, Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepsi Sonuga, Mariah Brown, and more. The film will release in select theatres in the US on December 6 and land on Netflix on December 20.
Here’s the first look at ‘The Six Triple Eight’⬇️
In the second spot is Taron Egerton (‘Rocketman’, ‘Kingsman’) starrer airport thriller ‘Carry-On’, helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Non-Stop’). The first collaboration between Netflix and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners, ‘Carry-On’ follows a young TSA agent as he fights to outsmart a mysterious traveler who blackmails him into letting a dangerous package slip onto a Christmas Eve flight.
In addition to Egerton, ‘Carry-On’ also stars Jason Bateman (‘Ozark’), Sofia Carson (‘Purple Hearts’), Danielle Deadwyler (‘The Harder They Fall’), Sinqua Walls, Logan Marshall-Green, Theo Rossi, Josh Brener, and Dean Norris. The film makes way to Netflix on December 13.
Next up we have ‘That Christmas’ by Richard Curtis (‘Love Actually’). Based on Curtis’ own trilogy of children’s books, this animated movie follows a series of entwined tales about family and friends, love and loneliness, and Santa Claus making a big mistake! The comedy drama marks Curtis’ debut into animation and its also the feature directorial debut of renowned animation veteran Otto (‘Love, Death & Robots’, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ films). ‘That Christmas’ will land on netflix on December 4 and the voice artists for the film include Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, Lolly Adefope, Alex Macqueen, Katherine Parkinson, Sindhu Vee, India Brown and more.
Then there’s this holiday romantic comedy ‘Hot Frosty’ that follows a widow Cathy who magically brings a handsome snowman to life. Through his naivete, the snowman helps Cathy to laugh, feel and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays…and before he melts. ‘Hot Frosty’ stars Lacey Chabert (‘Mean Girls’, ‘Wedding Veil’ trilogy), Dustin Milligan (‘Schitt’s Creek’), Craig Robinson (‘Brooklyn 99’), Joe Lo Truglio (‘Brooklyn 99’), Katy Mixon (‘Mike and Molly’) and Lauren Holly among others and will premiere on Netflix on November 13.
Holiday season does demand more rom com than just one and that’s why Netflix’s next offering is ‘The Merry Gentlemen’ and this one will heat things up a bit. In the film, to save her parents’ small-town performing arts venue, a former big-city dancer decides to stage an all-male, Christmas-themed revue. Arriving on Netflix on November 20, ‘The Merry Gentlemen’ stars Britt Robertson, Chad Michael Murray, Marla Sokoloff, Beth Broderick, Michael Gross, Maxwell Caulfield, Hector David Jr., Colt Prattes and Marc Anthony Samuel.
