Well made horror comedies are a treat on their own for those who like horror but are too afraid to watch it alone. It’s a hard to execute genre that uses two opposing themes and brings them together to entertain the audience. Our today’s recommendation does exactly that and on top of it has a great cast.
We are talking about ‘Santa Clarita Diet’ on Netflix, a highly underrated and hidden gem of a series by creator and showrunner Victor Fresco. It stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant in lead roles who have also executive produced the show.
‘Santa Clarita Diet’ follows a married realtor couple, Sheila and Joel, who are living a quiet life, raising their teenage daughter in Santa Clarita, Calif. Their world unexpectedly changes when Sheila goes through a dramatic transformation that sends her down a road of death and destruction, but leaves her looking and feeling better than ever.
The makers have dealt so good with the storyline and treated it in a very refreshing and unique way. While the undead wife part makes you feel the chill the show has an excellent humour sense that will leave you in splits. All in all ‘Santa Clarita Diet’ is an absolute treat and a must watch.
All three seasons of ‘Santa Clarita Diet’, consisting of ten episodes each, is currently streaming only on Netflix.
