In case you are a horror movies enthusiast, you might have already seen the 2008 sleeper hit ‘The Strangers’, which eventually garnered a cult following amongst genre fans. A remake of the home invasion slasher horror flick is already in the works and the latest addition to the film’s cast is the Oscar winning English actress Rachel Shenton.
‘The Strangers’ remake would follow the story of a couple (played by Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez), who undertake a cross-country trip to start a new life in the Pacific Northwest. However, their car breaks down in the middle of the journey after which the couple is forced to take an Airbnb to spend the night in a desolated area. There, the duo must defend themselves from three masked strangers, who attempt to infiltrate their rental home.
‘The Strangers’ remake has been directed by veteran filmmaker Renny Harlin. His previous directorial film credits include ‘Die Hard 2’ starring Bruce Willis, ‘Cliffhanger’ starring Sylvester Stallone, survival film ‘Deep Blue Sea’, and ‘Exorcist: The Beginning’, to name a few.
An interesting thing about ‘The Strangers’ remake is that after the upcoming film, Lionsgate have planned two more sequels with new stories. Production for these three films has recently been concluded. And in the first ‘The Strangers’ film. Rachel Shenton will be essaying the role of the protagonist’s sister Debbie.
Rachel Shenton is known for starring in British soap opera ‘Hollyoaks’, teen family drama ‘Switched at Birth’, British sitcom ‘White Gold’, and the period television series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’, amongst others. She had won an Oscar for the 2017 British sign language short film ‘The Silent Child’.
