Some films break your heart but leave feeling whole at the same time and one of them has to be Sam Mendes’ 2008 romantic drama ‘Revolutionary Road’ which is currently available on Prime Video.
The film reunites ‘Titanic’ co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Frank and April Wheeler, a couple whose marriage is on the rocks. As a young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s they struggle to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children.
The way ‘Revolutionary Road’ leaves a lasting emotional impact is marvellous. It forces you to acknowledge how powerful self-awareness and acceptance are through a lens of unrealised potential. The performances are top notch and so is the direction.
Based on a novel by Richard Yates, ‘Revolutionary Road’ is an amazing adaptation of the celebrated novel. The film is described by critics to be emotionally powerful, profound, intelligent and deeply heartfelt. In fact, it is said to be so good that it’s devastating.
An Oscar nominated film and a Golden Globe winner, ‘Revolutionary Road’ is a great film and you should definitely consider it as your watch this weekend.
