The reception of Indian films to the world audience is getting wider, and it seems to inspire such film enthusiasts to create something better. ‘Kottukali: The Adamant Girl’ is a drama film based on a social issue written and directed by P.S Vinoth Raj that talks about the character ‘Meena,’ played by actor Anna Ben, who falls in love with a man from a lower caste. As a result, her family believes she is possessed and casts her out.
Subsequently, the film showcases the orthodox mindset prevailing in local communities, in which it blends drama and satire while focusing on a unique women-centric perspective.
Also, the storyline explores a range of emotions — love, care, courage, and anger, blended with a touch of humour. Both main actors had the opportunity to deliver captivating performances as the storyline demanded.
Actor Sivakarthikeyan for SK Productions as well as Kalai Arasu for Little Wave Productions bankrolled the effort, and features Actor Anna Ben in her Tamil debut, along with Actor Soori in pivotal roles.
The technical wing includes the handling of cinematography by B. Saktivel and the editing by Ganesh Siva respectively.
As per latest reports, the movie is regarded as the official selection by the Alternativa Film Awards by Indonesia for this year, following its success in the prestigious ‘Grand Prix Award’ at the 22nd Amur Autumn International Film Festival held in Russia.
Also, the movie was well received on the big screens by the audience along with its screening at the 74th International Film Festival of Berlin.
Amazon Prime Video acquires the streaming rights for the movie and stay tuned in Binged for more updates.
