Emmy-winning ‘Ted Lasso’ star Hannah Waddingham is the latest addition to ‘Bullet Train’ director David Leitch’s upcoming action film ‘The Fall Guy’. The actress who played AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton on the Apple TV+’s hit series will be joining the cast, also comprising Emily Blunt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. A remake of the 1980s TV series of the same, the movie is set to release on March 1, 2024.
The film’s synopsis is “A battered and past-his-prime stuntman finds himself working on a movie set with the star for whom he doubled long ago and who replaced him. The star then goes missing.” Gosling will be playing the role of the stuntman, with Taylor Johnson playing the missing star. Blunt is reported to play the prosthetic makeup artist with a romantic connection to Gosling’s stuntman character. Waddington on the other hand will play the role of a film producer. With a top-tier cast and crew, the Universal Pictures film has huge expectations riding on it.
Director David Leitch is a well-known name amongst action movie fans having displayed his mastery over the genre with his directorial work like ‘Deadpool 2’, ‘Atomic Blonde’, and ‘Hobbs & Shaw’. The scriptwriter Drew Pearce is also popular for his works in action entertainers like ‘Iron Man 3’, and ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’. The director-screenwriter duo’s last collaboration was in the well-received box office draw ‘Hobbs & Shaw’.
Rayn Gosling was last seen on Netflix’s ‘The Gray Man’, with his next release being the ensemble ‘Barbie’ to be directed by Greta Gerwig( Little Women). Emily Blunt’s upcoming releases include Christopher Nolan’s biggie ‘Oppenheimer’ while Taylor-Johnson will be next seen as Marvel comics’ character Kraven the Hunter in Sony’s movie of the same name, set to release on October 6, 2023.
