It’s the weekend and, as always, we are back again with yet another handpicked binge watch recommendation for OTT. Today, we suggest you watch a hard-hitting and thought-provoking anthology documentary film which was backed by none other than the perfectionist himself – Aamir Khan. We are talking about the documentary titled ‘Rubaru Roshni’, which you can stream on Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar OTT platforms.
Directed by Svati Chakravarthy Bhatkala and narrated by Aamir Khan, ‘Rubaru Roshni’ is a compilation of three different real-life stories which are narrated from the perspectives of both the victims and the preparators of the crimes. All three stories focus on how different people associated with the three stories tried to heal themselves by way of forgiveness.
The first story titled ‘The Orphan and the Convict’ revolves around the shocking murder case of Mr. Lalit Maken and his wife Mrs. Geetanjali Maken which happened in the 1980s. Eventually, their daughter Avantika showed a lot of courage and heart and forgave the culprit.
The second story ‘The Farmer and the Nun’ follows the devastating story of Sister Rani Maria, who was ruthlessly stabbed by a farmer while travelling in a bus in the State of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1995. Later, the deceased nun’s sister visited the killer and tied rakhi on his hand.
The third story titled ‘Terror and the Mom’ is about a woman who lost her husband and her thirteen-year-old daughter in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack at the Oberoi Hotel. All these three stories are connected through a common link: forgiveness.
‘Rubaru Roshni’ received positive feedback from critics, and you can watch these unbelievable true stories on either Netflix or Disney+ Hotstar. You can watch the film’s trailer below to get a better idea before watching it on OTT.
