Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting foreign OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Andor’, ‘Dahmer’, ‘Lou’, and ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Alchemy’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up for release. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top foreign titles streaming on Indian OTT platforms from this week.
The Good Doctor Season-5 (Streaming on Netflix from 27th September)
The underlying premise of the engaging medical drama ‘The Good Doctor’ revolves around Shaun Murphy – an autistic surgical resident with savant syndrome and his quotidian experiences as he relocates to a prestigious California-based hospital.
Blonde (Streaming on Netflix from 28th September)
‘Blonde’ is a fictionalized account of the iconic Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe and is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. The film features Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas in the lead role and reimagines the life story of the star, how she rose to fame and at what cost.
Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons Season-6 (Streaming on Netflix from 28th September)
The documentary series focuses on the brutal life inside some of the toughest prisons across the world from the point of view of the prisoners or the guards or other related persons.
Bullet Train (Streaming on Zee5 from 29th September)
Helmed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw), the action-comedy movie is based on Japanese author Kotaro Isaka’s book ‘Maria Beetle’. The film’s underlying premise revolves around five assassins traveling on a Japanese bullet train and how their individual missions intersect in the high-speed adventure. Brad Pitt essays the role of an experienced but unlucky mercenary.
The Empress (Streaming on Netflix from 29th September)
The German historical romantic drama series revolves around the life of Empress Elizabeth of Austria, who falls in love with Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary, and they marry each other. After marriage, she must deal with her power-hungry mother-in-law and Franz’s brother Max.
Hocus Pocus 2 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 30th September)
It’s the sequel to the 1993 supernatural comedy movie ‘Hocus Pocus’ which revolved around three witches named Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy), who are inadvertently brought back by a teenage boy on a Halloween night 300 years after they were executed for the murder of a young girl. The sequel is set 29 years after the first film and follows three high school girls who must stop the Sanderson sisters from executing their nefarious plans.
The Greatest Beer Run Ever (Streaming on Apple TV+ from 30th September)
Helmed by Peter Farrelly and based on a true story set in 1967, the war action-comedy movie features Zac Efron as a merchant seaman named John Donohue. During a drunken night in a bar, John accepts a wild mission and decides to sneak into Vietnam amidst an escalating war, track his friends and give them American beer as a mark of support.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 30th September)
Based on Grady Hendrix’s novel of the same name, the 1980s set horror movie follows the relationship between two best friends Abby and Gretchen. But during a perfect getaway, their lives take a U-turn when Abby begins to believe Gretchen has been possessed by a demon.
Entergalactic (Streaming on Netflix from 30th September)
It’s an animated TV special which follows a charming artist Jabari, who falls in love with the next-door photographer neighbour Meadow. But he must figure out whether he can balance his profession and his love life together.
Vortex (Streaming on Mubi from 30th September)
The French psychological drama movie follows the story of an aged couple Lui (Dario Argento) and Elle (Francoise Lebrun) as they live their final days while dealing with deteriorating health and dementia.
Last Seen Alive (Streaming on Netflix from 1st October)
The action thriller movie features Gerard Butler as a distressed man who must race against time to find his wife after she suddenly disappears from a gas station. But the problem is that he himself has become the prime suspect in the eyes of the authorities and is now on the run while trying to solve the mystery.
