This Week’s Top Foreign OTT Releases: Gen V, Blue Beetle & More

Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting foreign OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Fast X’, ‘The Continental’, ‘Love Again’, ‘No One Will Save You’ and ‘Spy Kids: Armageddon’, to name a few.

Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated foreign OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top foreign titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.

The Devil’s Plan (Streaming on Netflix from 26th September)

The Korean reality competition series is about how a group of contestants compete with each other in a battle of wits for six nights and seven days and the winner will take home a grand prize.

Who Killed Jill Dando (Streaming on Netflix from 26th September)

The three-part docuseries focuses on the shocking murder of popular British television broadcasting star Jill Dando which happened in the year 1999 and the case still perplexes the experts and the public.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (Streaming on Netflix from 27th September)

Wes Anderson’s short film features Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role of a wealthy man named Henry Sugar, who makes use of an extraordinary skill to cheat at gambling.

The Worst of Evil (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 27th September)

The 1990s set action thriller Korean series follows a police officer who goes undercover in order to infiltrate a drug trafficking organization and also learns that his wife has also volunteered for the perilous mission.

Encounters (Streaming on Netflix from 27th September)

The four-part documentary series focuses on four extraordinary otherworldly encounters and mass UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) sightings which have allegedly happened in the last 50 years. The stories range from straight lines observed in a sky in Texas, a submersible spacecraft, an alien encounter in Zimbabwe, and alien interference in a nuclear plant located in Japan.

Love Is in The Air (Streaming on Netflix from 28th September)

The Australian romantic comedy movie follows the story of an independent seaplane pilot, who begins to develop romantic feelings for the man who has been sent to sabotage her family business she is trying to keep afloat.

Gen V (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 29th September)

‘The Boys’ spin-off series revolves around America’s superhero-only college for young adult superheroes which is run by the evil Vought Corporation, which is known for founding the elite but corrupt superhero team – The Seven. The story is about how these young college students try to find themselves and whether they turn out to be villains or heroes.

Blue Beetle (Streaming on BMS Stream from 29th September)

The superhero movie’s plotline revolves around a Mexican teenager Jaime Reyes (played by Xolo Maridueña), who accidentally finds an alien scarab called Blue Beetle, which gives the boy a superpowered exosuit, thereby granting him superspeed and superstrength amongst other incredible abilities.

Reptile (Streaming on Netflix from 29th September)

The crime thriller movie follows a detective (Benicio Del Toro), who tries to uncover the mystery behind a brutal murder. But there is more to the case than meets the eye. The film also features Justin Timberlake in an important role.

Launchpad Season-2 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 29th September)

It’s a collection of six original live-action short films from writers and directors who belong to underrepresented backgrounds. The stories have been titled Project CC, The Ghost, The Roof, Beautiful FL, Black Belts and Maxine.

Nowhere (Streaming on Netflix from 29th September)

The Spanish thriller follows a pregnant woman who tries to survive against all odds in the middle of nowhere after escaping from a totalitarian country by hiding in a shipping container.

Sympathy for the Devil (Streaming on Lionsgate Play from 29th September)

The psychological thriller movie features Nicolas Cage in the role of a mysterious passenger who forces a man (Joel Kinnaman) to drive but nothing is as it seems.

Flora and Son (Streaming on Apple TV+ from 29th September)

The musical comedy drama movie features Irish actress Eve Hewson in the titular role of a single mother Flora, who is having a difficult time dealing with his teenage son. She tries to make him busy with a guitar. With an online teacher’s (Joseph Gordon-Lewitt) help, the power of music changes their lives in a positive way.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Streaming on Netflix from 1st October)

The animated superhero movie follows the daredevil multiversal adventures of Miles Morales aka Spider-Man, who teams up with Spider-Woman Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to fight a powerful nemesis. But this creates a rift between Miles Morale and other Spider-People.
