Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting foreign OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘She-Hulk’, ‘Look Both Ways’, ‘The Next 365 Days’, and ‘Echoes’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up for release. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top foreign titles streaming on Indian OTT platforms from this week.
House of the Dragon (Streaming on 22nd August on Disney+ Hotstar)
The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series is based on George R. R. Martin’s 2018 fantasy novel ‘Fire & Blood’ and the goings-on takes place around two centuries before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and revolves around the beginning of the end of House Targaryen.
The Walking Dead Season-11 (Streaming on Netflix from 22nd August)
The opening season of the post-apocalyptic horror series aired back in the year 2010 and it was an instant hit amongst audiences worldwide owing to its comic books source material supported by crisp execution with first-rate production values. The show’s basic premise revolves around a group of survivors amidst the backdrop of a world infected with zombies. How they fight the flesh-hungry, killer creatures while dealing with their interpersonal conflicts drives the story forward.
Anna (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 22nd August)
Helmed by Lee Joo-young, the South Korean series revolves around a woman (played by Bae Suzy), who starts living a totally different life because of an insignificant lie she had made up before.
Top Gun: Maverick (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, BookMyShow Stream from 24th August – PPV)
Helmed by Joseph Kosinski, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is set thirty years after the events of the 1986 parent film ‘Top Gun’ by Tony Scott. Tom Cruise is now a brave test pilot and a flight instructor. He trains a batch of Top Gun graduates for a special mission where he meets pilot trainee Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Miller), who is the son of Maverick’s best friend and former naval flight officer Nick ‘Goose’ Bradshaw.
Fearless: The Inside Story of the AFLW (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 24th August)
The football-centric six-part docuseries will showcase a behind-the-scenes look at Australia’s AFL Women’s Competition (AFLW) and would focus on four clubs namely Adelaide Crows, Collingwood, GWS Giants, and Western Bulldogs.
Queer Eye: Brazil (Streaming on Netflix from 24th August)
The makeover reality series features a new fab five in Brazil who use their unique skills and expertise to transform the lifestyles of different individuals to help them excel in their lives.
Dual (Streaming on BookMyShow Stream from 24th August)
Set in the near future, the sci-fi thriller movie revolves around a woman who is diagnosed with a terminal illness. She decides to go ahead with a cloning procedure so that her clone can live with her loved ones to relieve their pain after she is gone. But learning that she is longer dying, she attempts to unsuccessfully decommission the clone. Now, she has one year to train herself to fight her clone in a court-mandated duel to death.
History 101 Season-2 (Streaming on Netflix from 25th August)
The documentary series gives its viewers mini lessons in history about a variety of subjects such as nuclear power, robots, plastics, China’s rise, and the space race, amongst others.
Samaritan (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 26th August)
The film’s plotline follows a thirteen-year-old boy Sam (Javon Walton), who begins to suspect that his seemingly ordinary and reserved neighbour Joe (Sylvester Stallone) might be the legendary superhero who is missing for many years.
Seoul Vibe (Streaming on Netflix from 26th August)
The South Korean action movie is set amidst the backdrop of the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the story follows a group of drivers who go undercover to unearth the massive corruption behind large scale money laundering masterminded by a powerful person.
Me Time (Streaming on Netflix from 26th August)
The comedy film narrates the story of a devoted family man who, after many years, finally finds some time for himself when his wife and children are away for a few days. He takes the golden opportunity to reconnect with his former close friend and together they have a blast during a wild and adventurous weekend.
Loving Adults (Streaming on Netflix from 26th August)
The thriller movie is based on Anna Ekberg’s novel ‘Till Death Do Us Apart’ and follows the relationship between a husband and a wife after the wife finds out about her husband’s secret affair and how their friendship turns into enmity.
