Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting foreign OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’, ‘Devil in Ohio’, ‘Love in the Villa’, and ‘House of Hammer’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up for release. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top foreign titles streaming on Indian OTT platforms from this week.
Rick and Morty Season-6 (Streaming on Netflix from 5th September)
Reminiscent of Robert Zemeckis’ cult time-travel film ‘Back to the Future’, the highly rated science fiction animated series revolves around the misadventures of a mad genius scientist Rick and his well-intentioned grandson Morty.
Get Smart With Money (Streaming on Netflix from 6th September)
Helmed by Stephanie Soechtig, the documentary film is about financial experts giving their opinions on spending less, saving more, and investing in the right places.
Chef’s Table: Pizza (Streaming on Netflix from 7th September)
The six-part documentary series features reputed chefs from across the globe and how they give the much-loved dish – the Pizza, their own flavour and distinctive style.
Thor: Love and Thunder (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) search for inner peace is hampered by a formidable villain Gorr the God butcher (Christian Bale), who is hellbent on eliminating all Gods. Now, the Asgardian God of Thunder must team up with King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and former girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) to stop this new threat from wreaking havoc.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
It’s a behind-the-scenes documentary which focuses on the making of the titular Star Wars series by way of showing some unique behind-the-scenes footage. It features Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen and the series director Deborah Chow.
Pinocchio (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
It’s the live-action adaptation of Disney’s iconic 1940 film of the same name and revolves around the titular character Pinocchio, a wooden puppet who is brought to life by the Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo). Helmed by Robert Zemeckis, the film also features Tom Hanks in the role of the toymaker Geppetto, who raises Pinocchio as a real boy.
Cars on the Road (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
Based on the popular ‘Cars’ film series, the animated show features Owen Wilson as the protagonist Lightning McQueen, who undertakes a cross-country road trip with his close friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). During their journey to attend a wedding function, the duo crosses paths with several other cars namely dinosaur-like cars and monster cars, etc.
Expedition Borderlands (Streaming on Discovery+ from 8th September)
The travel-centric docuseries follows the journey of former British soldier Levinson Wood and Indian travel writer Ash Bhardwaj as they try to understand the cultural differences and lifestyles along the India Pakistan border.
The Making of Thor Love and Thunder (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
The behind-the-scenes documentary would feature unseen on-set footage and various interviews from the film’s lead cast members including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Tessa Thompson and its director Taika Waititi about the making of Marvel’s superhero flick ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
Tierra Incognita (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
The eight-part Argentinian mystery horror series follows the story of a young boy named Eric, who decides to leave his maternal grandparents’ home and travels to the abandoned horror amusement park Tierra Incognita in his hometown. This is the place where his missing parents were last seen together. How he tries to find answers to the mystery behind his parents’ disappearance form the show’s underlying plotline.
Wedding Season (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
The dark comedy series is about Katie (Rosa Salazar), who finds herself in the middle of a situation where her would-be husband and his family members have been murdered by an unknown person on the wedding day. Along with her lover Stefan, Katie goes on the run as she tries to prove her innocence.
Growing Up (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 8th September)
Backed by Brie Larson, the hybrid format docuseries narrates ten different stories focusing on the lives of youngsters aged 18-22 and their disparate journeys as they deal with growing up and adolescence.
Cobra Kai Season-5 (Streaming on Netflix from 9th September)
The martial arts drama series is set more than three decades after the events of the 1984 cult film ‘The Karate Kid’. While the parent film featured Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso in the role of the underdog protagonist and his adversary Johnny Lawrence was played by William Zabka. Whereas tables turned in the spin-off web series as the goings-on are also narrated from Johnny Lawrence’s point of view in a setting where he becomes the underdog. After Terry Silver unethically wins the Karate tournament in Season-4, Johnny and Ralph must team up again to outwit the formidable adversary.
End of the Road (Streaming on Netflix from 9th September)
The action thriller movie follows the story of a widowed mother Brenda, who must protect her family from a mysterious killer after getting involved in a murder case and a missing money bag in the New Mexico desert.
Narco Saints (Streaming on Netflix from 9th September)
Helmed by Yoon Jong-bin and based on true events, the South Korean series revolves around a regular businessman Kang In-gu (Ha Jung-woo), who is forced to become a part of a dangerous plan to nab the dreaded Korean kingpin Jeon Yo-hwan (Hwang Jung-min).
