Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Butterfly’, ‘Gold’, ‘Vir Das: Landing’ and ‘Aar Ya Paar’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Phone Bhoot (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 2nd January)
The comedy horror movie features Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff, Ishaan Khattar, and Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead roles. The story is about how two jobless persons Major and Gullu team up with a real ghost to start their own ghost capturing business, but the two must pay a price for it.
Taaza Khabar (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 6th January)
The six-part action-comedy web series features popular Youtuber Bhuvan Bam in the lead role of a sanitation worker, who is blessed with a gift to know about news which is yet to be out in public. It also features Shriya Pilgaonkar, Mahesh Manjrekar, and JD Chakravarthy, amongst others.
Uunchai (Streaming on Zee5 from 6th January)
Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the family drama film features Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani in the roles of three friends who decide to travel to the Everest base Camp in order to fulfil the wish of their deceased friend (Danny Denzongpa). The movie also features Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, Sarika, and Nafisa Ali.
3Cs (Streaming on SonyLIV from 6th January)
Directed by Sampath Kumar Thota, the dark comedy thriller Telugu web series revolves around three friends who land up in trouble and are stuck on an island after their friend goes missing.
Mumbai Mafia: Police Vs the Underworld (Streaming on Netflix from 6th January)
The true crime documentary film focuses on the turbulent times during the 1990s period in Mumbai and the violent battle between the rising force of encounter specialists and the dreaded underworld gang – the D-Company.
Saudi Vellakka (Streaming on SonyLIV from 6th January)
Helmed by Tharun Moorthy, the Malayalam drama movie follows the story of Abhilash Sasidharan, who gets a summons warrant by the court. Later, he learns that it’s because of a trivial issue which was exaggerated into something unnecessarily big, and which has now impacted multiple lives.
Shikarpur (Streaming on Zee5 from 6th January)
The Bengali mystery drama web series features Ankush Hazra in the role of a small-time detective who investigates killings happening in the titular hill town of Shikarpur.
Story of Things (Streaming on SonyLIV from 6th January)
Helmed by George K Antoney, the five-episode Tamil anthology series which focuses on human stories, their relationships, and stories that diminish the difference between the real and the surreal.
