Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian and foreign OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘83’, ‘Bheemla Nayak’, ‘Valimai’, ‘Dune’, ‘Halo’, and ‘Bridgerton Season 2’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian and foreign titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Moon Knight (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 30th March)
The six-part show revolves around a mercenary and ex-US marine named Marc Spector aka Moon Knight (played by Oscar Isaac), who is suffering from dissociative identity disorder condition and is bestowed with the powers of the Egyptian moon god. The series also features Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy in important roles.
Sharmaji Namkeen (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 31st March)
The film is a family entertainer starring Late actor Rishi Kapoor (his last on-screen outing) and Paresh Rawal essaying the same titular role as B.G. Sharma aka Sharmaji. The movie’s plot revolves around the West-Delhi-based middle-class, 58-year-old widower and how he discovers his hidden passion for cooking as he tries to cope with his post-retirement life. The film also features Rishi Kapoor’s former co-star Juhi Chawla.
Bheeshma Parvam (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 1st April)
Helmed by Amal Neerad, the film is a gangster drama starring veteran actor Mammootty in the lead role. Set in 1980s Kochi, the film’s plot is somewhat inspired by The Godfather and the Indian epic Mahabharata. It revolves around its protagonist Michael, the respected and equally feared head of the Anjootti family, and how some of his own family members join hands with his enemies to end the patriarch’s reign.
Drive My Car (Streaming on Mubi from 1st April)
Based on Haruki Murakami’s short story of the same name, the Oscar-winning Japanese road movie follows a respected stage actor-director Yusuke Kafuku, who gets an offer to direct a play at Horsohima’s theatre festival while still dealing with his wife’s unexpected demise two years ago. At the festival, he meets a reticent woman named Misaki, his chauffeur, who helps him tackle the mystery left behind by his wife.
Aadavaallu Meeku Johaarlu (Streaming on SonyLIV from 2nd April)
Helmed by Kishore Tirumala, the romantic comedy-drama movie features Rashmika Mandanna and Sharwanand in the lead roles. The film’s plot revolves around a man named Chiranjeevi who is brought up by his mother and his aunts who are the family’s major decision-makers. The matriarchs are very particular about choosing a bride for Chiranjeevi. The goings-on take an interesting turn when an independent woman Aadhya enters his life.
