After the massively successful ‘Game of Thrones’ series eight-season run concluded in the year 2019, the show’s fans across the globe are now waiting with bated breath for its other spin-offs / prequels, which are under different stages of development.
As per the latest update, acclaimed author George R.R. Martin has revealed in his personal blog that three animated projects set in the world of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ are currently in the works. And the show ‘Nine Voyages’, which is focused on the legendary voyages of Sea Snake, will now be made in the animated series format instead of the previously planned live-action format. The decision has apparently been made because of the exorbitant production costs to film such a massively mounted show.
And far as other ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoffs / prequels are concerned, last year, it was revealed that a show based on Aegon Targaryen’s Westeros conquest was in the works. Previously, it was also reported that a ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off sequel series based on Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow character was also in development.
Having said that, not all of the above mentioned ‘Game of Thrones’ projects getting officially greenlit is not a given and it’s not guaranteed that all these shows will see the light of the day. Although ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ was ordered by HBO last April.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel which first hit the small screens was ‘House of the Dragon’, which was based on George R. R. Martin’s 2018 fantasy novel ‘Fire & Blood’. The prequel takes place two centuries before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and revolves around the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. ‘House of the Dragon’ Season-2 is expected to be released sometime in mid-2024. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on that.
