If you have recently watched ‘Asur’, you must have become a huge fan of the way the makers put the characters in vulnerable situations. They have to make choices that affect the lives of others and it challenges the ethical boundaries they have set for themselves. Another great example for this is ‘The Dark Knight’. Here are some more recommendations that talk about the ethical dilemmas of human beings.
Thank You For Smoking (2005) – Disney+Hotstar:
With Aaron Eckhart, the same actor personifying dilemma in ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Thank You For Smoking’ is a wonderful film that tells the story of Nick Mayor, a lobbyist for the cigarette business who searches for words as he tries to explain the nature of his job to his kid. He tries to be a role model, but at the same time does not understand how he’ll be able to be that with this job. It is a simple and compact story with no loopholes directed beautifully by Jason Reitman. You should not miss it at any cost.
‘The Mist’ tells the story of a father and son couple who get trapped inside a supermarket with other people of the town. Soon, the whole town is covered in mist and grotesque blood-thiraty creatures lurk out of the Dark. It is written and directed by Frank Darabont and is adapted from a story by Stephen King. The cast has actors like Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Laurie Holden, Andre Braugher, Toby Jones And many others. The film has much more to it than it looks on the surface, but you will have to watch it to know. The Mist is a film you will not regret watching if you are a thriller fan.
A Few Good Men (1992) – SonyLIV:
With a young Tom Cruise and the legendary Jack Nicholson in the cast, ‘A Few Good Men’ is one of the few films that deal with ethical dilemmas with some mastery. The film tells the story of Daniel Kaffee, a US military lawyer who defends two marines who are accused of murdering another marine. It is based upon the book of the same name by Aaron Sorkin, who also wrote the screenplay. The film is directed by Rob Reiner and it was quite successful at the time of its release. If you like legal thrillers, this is the movie you are looking for.
