Psychological thriller movie ‘Gaslight’ has been drumming up buzz ever since it was announced last year. The film stars Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey, Chitrangada Singh and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles. The film was planned as a theatrical release, but has now ditched its release in theatres, to release directly on OTT. ‘Gaslight’ now has a confirmed OTT release date and platform. The film will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on 31st March, 2023.
‘Gaslight’ is directed by Pawan Kripalani, who has earlier directed horror comedy Bhoot Police, and thriller film, Phobia. The movie is produced by Ramesh Taurani, under his TIPS Films production banner.
Not much is known about the plot of Gaslight, except that the film is a psychological thriller. Going by the title of the film, and given that it boasts a dark, unconventional plot, we can safely assume that the film will centre on the form of mental abuse and psychological manipulation, in which the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim’s mind. Typically, gaslighters seek to gain power and control over the other person, by distorting reality and forcing them to question their own judgment and intuition.
