Sarah Cooper created a Tik Tok account during the pandemic, trying to make the best out of a bad situation. She posted a video where she lip synched an audio of President Trump during his April 23rd press briefing where he suggested shining light and injecting household cleaners into the body would work effectively against coronavirus. The video went viral (absurdity usually does) and she subsequently produced several other videos which satired around the American President.
Now, in addition to the millions of online followers she ammased, the Jamaican American landed a comedy special on Netflix. The show will be called “Sarah Cooper: Everything Is Fine”, with writer-comedian Natasha Lyonne set to direct along with actor-comedian Maya Rudolph, who will also be an executive producer.
Recently signed up with the Talent agency WME, Cooper also came on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon in June and even co-hosted the show yesterday. Cooper has also worked as a writer and correspondent for the Stephen Colbert-produced “Old News”, A CBS All Access Pilot.
“Sarah Cooper: Everything Is Fine” will deal with ‘controversial’ subjects like politics, race, gender and class, among others. It will take on a variety-show format with sketches and short interviews featuring special guests (be it celebrities or ones relevant to the topic being discussed). The comedy special will debut this fall on Netflix.
