Telugu film industry is one of the most affluent and influential entertainment industry in the country and they are set to bring a paradigm shift in the way films will be marketed going forward.
Yesterday makers of Ram Charan’s highly awaited ‘Game Changer’ launched the film’s teaser from Uttar Pradesh’s capital city Lucknow and now we will see Allu Arjun’s most anticipated sequel ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ trailer going live from Bihar’s capital city Patna on 17th November.
Not only did they move out of Telugu speaking states, they did not take these events to Delhi or Mumbai. Instead they adopted a very smart strategy to go to cities like Lucknow and Patna that house the native Hindi speakers of north India.
In this way they make a stronger impact and deeper and wider penetration in the Hindi speaking markets. This will obviously generate a more keen interest amongst the audience in the north who are now very much aware of these leading stars from the south.
While the audience from southern states are already waiting eagerly for these films, hosting pre-release events across the nation is definitely a much more creative and intelligent way to market these films.
This also sets a path for future such tentpole projects from film industries across the nation as to how they can be more inclusive in their marketing and promotional approach and not be pan Indian by just dropping different language versions but be pan Indian in literal geographical terms as well. The entertainment industry is going through a shift and we will soon see more production houses getting more aggressive with this approach.
