It gives a feeling the OTT Exclusive films from Tollywood are gone even before the trend started. Many films skipped their release in theaters and arrived on OTT during the Lockdown. When the pandemic is on, Tollywood filmmakers have started two OTT Exclusive films. One is Vaishnav Tej’s next in the direction of Krish which is tentatively called Jungle Book and the other is Sunil’s Maryada Krishnaiah with Senior Director VN Aditya.
Jungle Book promotions are yet to begin but we have learned that the makers are in the process of breaking the OTT agreement and are now keen on releasing it in theaters. The urge for the movie to release in theaters increased further when Vaishnav Tej’s Uppena released and ended up as a massive Blockbuster.
Maryada Krishnaiah promotions began today with the Release of the film’s first look poster. The poster makes no mention about the OTT Release which indicates it will release first in theaters. The reopening of theaters, allowing 100% occupancy, and audience coming to theaters proactively is motivating filmmakers to go back to the old normal. We will have to see how the OTT Exclusive films come in Tollywood. Only then, it will be the real penetration of OTT in Telugu.
