The seventh installment of the blockbuster Hollywood action franchise ‘Mission Impossible 7’ starring Tom Cruise has shut down its filming. The reason being that a minimum of one member of the production house has reportedly contracted the dreaded Coronavirus, as per a report by Hollywood Reporter. Although the number of persons who had contracted the virus is still not confirmed. As part of the safety protocols, the shoot will apparently resume after 14 days.
Interestingly, a few months back, Tom Cruise was heard reprimanding crew members for not following COVID-19 rules, as per a leaked audio. The current halt of the UK schedule of the globetrotting action-adventure film is the second major setback as the film’s production also suffered last year in February because of lockdown restrictions in Italy.
Regarding the current shooting halt, a Paramount spokesperson had earlier said “We have temporarily halted production on Mission: Impossible 7 until June 14th, due to positive coronavirus test results during routine testing. We are following all safety protocols and will continue to monitor the situation.”
‘Top Gun’ star Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the upcoming spy actioner ‘Mission Impossible’ sequel. The film is being helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, who had previously directed Tom Cruise in two more ‘Mission Impossible’ films besides another action thriller ‘Jack Reacher’.
Not many people might be aware that Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission Impossible’ film franchise is based on a television series of the same name. The series, created by Bruce Geller, revolved around a team of secret American government agents called Impossible Missions Force (IMF). The series spanned two seasons comprising 35 episodes that were aired between 1988 to 1990.
While the first ‘Mission Impossible’ film (released in 1996) takes place six years after the events of the television series. The phenomenally successful film franchise spanning six films until now have grossed a whopping $3.5 billion at the box office worldwide.
The makers of ‘Mission Impossible 7’ are targeting a release date of May 27, 2022. This is about the same time when John Krasinski’s ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ was released a few days back in what was being touted as a comeback of cinemas.
