It is often said that art inspires art. Novels inspire plays. Plays inspire songs. Songs inspire movies. Movies inspire video games. And unsurprisingly, the opposites are also true.
One such case was ‘Uncharted’. The action-adventure video game series and media franchise published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and developed by Naughty Dog was adapted into a 2022 feature-length film by Ruben Fleischer for Sony Pictures.
The film revolves around Nathan Drake, a bartender (and thief) who is recruited by the mysterious treasure hunter Victor Sullivan to help him find the lost fortune of Ferdinand Magellan. However, they face competition from Santiago Moncada, the antagonist who believes that the treasure belongs to him.
The title starred big names like Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Taylor Ali, Tati Gabrielle, Antonio Banderas, and more in the ensemble cast. For fans of the genre and the franchise, we have good news!
Despite mixed reviews, the movie now officially has a sequel ‘Uncharted 2’ in the works! And why wouldn’t it be? It was a box-office success and is the fifth-highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time!
The sequel teases the rescue of Nathan’s brother Sam and a more personal treasure hunt. However, there is no confirmation that Holland, or any other original cast members are returning.
