Actually, no one was missing Indian 2 on OTT. Still, the makers took a really different step and released it against the usual convention. So what is the usual way?
South Indian languages take 4 weeks for a film to be released on OTT. So, the difference between the OTT release and the theatrical release is merely 28 days. However, if the movie is too big or too bad then there is obviously a change of plans.
However, after 2022, the distributors made it compulsory for films to follow a minimum 8 weeks window. Thus, if a film doesn’t mention it clearly in their contract then the whole chain of distributors will simply abandon the producer even for future films.
So, a minimum of 8 weeks is required to release any Hindi film on OTT after its theatrical release.
Anyways, Indian 2 has broken this convention. It has not been 8 weeks since its release and still the movie is now playing on Netflix India in Hindi.
Looks like the makers didn’t want the Hindi version to be in any sort of limbo after the alleged dispute with Netflix in terms of revised pricing on Netflix.
