Top 10 Films & Series Releasing This Week on Indian OTT Platforms

Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting Indian and foreign OTT titles including films and web series such as ‘Finch’, Tryst with Destiny’, ‘Narcos Mexico: Season 3’, ‘Doctor’, ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar, ‘’The Harder They Fall’, and the brilliant ‘Jai Bhim’, to name a few.

Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated Indian and foreign OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of top OTT titles streaming on Indian OTT platforms this week.

Dexter: New Blood (Series, Streaming on Voot Select from 8th November)

The latest season featuring your favorite, next-door serial killer Dexter Morgan is finally streaming this week from today. Being touted as a revival season, the ninth season of Dexter comprises ten episodes where the vigilante killer is living under disguise in a fictional town called Iron Lake under a new name – Jimmy Lindsay. The series is set nearly ten years after the eighth season’s much-criticized finale.

Mughizh (Film, Streaming on Netflix from 8th November)

Helmed by Karthik, the nearly hour-long film features Vijay Sethupathi, Regina Cassandra, and the former’s daughter Shreeja in her feature film acting debut. Mughizh, which means the birth of a fragrance, revolves around the journey of a middle-class family and their relationship with their dog.

Special Ops 1.5 (Series, Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 12th November)

Special Ops 1.5’ is a highly anticipated spy-thriller show that belongs to the same universe as the acclaimed series ‘Special Ops’ helmed by Neeraj Pandey and starring Kay Kay Menon in the lead role. The show would ostensibly narrate the engaging backstory and the formative years of its protagonist – the relentless R&AW analyst Himmat Singh.

Red Notice (Film, Streaming on Netflix from 12th November)

Helmed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the much-anticipated action-comedy thriller film features WWE star turned Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson as an FBI profiler who teams up with an art thief (Ryan Reynolds) to catch the world’s most wanted art thief (Gal Gadot).

Jungle Cruise (Film, Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 12th November)

It’s a fun-filled fantasy adventure film starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson in the lead roles and is somewhat reminiscent of the Indiana Jones films. Based on Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, the film’s story follows a headstrong female scientist who takes the help of a courageous riverboat captain to cruise through a dangerous jungle in her mission to find the Tree of Life.

Kanakam Kamini Kalaham (Film, Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 12 November)

Helmed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, the satirical comedy film is slated to be Disney+ Hotstar’s first Malayalam direct-to-OTT release. The story follows a married couple and their stay at a once glorious Ernakulam hotel and their interactions with various eccentric characters during their stay.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Film, Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 12th November)

The widely acclaimed superhero film follows the adventures of the highly trained martial artist Shang-Chi (played by Simi Liu), who is trying to live a normal life. But now the superhero must deal with his past after his estranged father and the misguided leader of the Ten Rings organization directs him on a dangerous path to find a hidden village.

Dopesick (Series, Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 12th November)

Dopesick is a drama miniseries that revolves around a pharmaceutical company and its role in OxyContin opioid addiction in America. The series is told from various perspectives of doctors, users, law enforcers, prosecutors, and the pharma company itself. The series features veteran actor Michael Keaton in the role of Dr. Samuel Finnix.

Aranmanai 3 (Film, Streaming on Zee5 from 12th November)

It’s a Tamil language comedy horror movie and the third installment of the Aranmanai film series and features Sundar C, Arya, Raashi Khanna, and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead roles. When the spirit of a wronged mother who had haunted a Zamindar’s daughter Jyothi in her childhood days, comes back again to haunt her young relative, she attempts to unearth the mystery with the help of her lover – a local electrician. Despite the mixed reviews, the film had performed well commercially upon its theatrical release last month.

Squad (Film, Streaming on Zee5 from 12th November)

Helmed by Nilesh Sahai, ‘Squad’ is an action thriller movie that features Rinzing Denzongpa (son of veteran actor Danny Denzongpa), Malvika Raaj, Pooja Batra, Mohan Kapur, and Dishita Jain. Rinzing Denzongpa plays an STF commando whose mission is to protect an eminent scientist’s 6-year-old granddaughter, who is being chased by the world’s best special forces.
