Finally, after a long long wait, Marvel Studios is moving forward with a Thunderbolts movie. Deadline first broke this news, revealing Jake Schreier will helm the project and Eric Pearson will pen down the script. However, the studio has not yet uttered a word about the members of this anti-hero faction. The talks of this project started surfacing on the internet after the premiere of the Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The show treasured many prominent members of Thunderbolts. Ghost
We saw Hannah John-Kamen‘s Ghost last appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Her powers looked cool. But her characterisation needed a much better treatment from the makers. Ghost turned out to be one of the weakest points in the movie. Let’s hope this scenario does not take place in the forthcoming Thunderbolts movie.
Yelena Belova/Black Widow
Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Belova has already shown her potential in Black Widow and Hawkeye. She can be a perfect Thunderbolt. Also, we saw Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) approaching her and blaming Clint Barton for Natasha’s death in the post-credits scene of Black Widow. She may approach Yelena again considering the skills and talent the latter possesses. Yelena can bestow an entirely new dynamic to the faction.
US Agent
Wyatt Russell performed outstandingly well as John Walker in the FATWS series. In the end, we see him becoming US Agent and getting recruited by Valentina. All these moments hinted at the formation of Thunderbolts. Also, US Agent is one of the major characters of the anti-hero team in the comics. It is impossible to even imagine Thunderbolts without him.
The Winter Soldier
Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier is another vintage member of Thunderbolts. He has even led the team on many occasions in the comics. Marvel has not yet announced anything regarding his inclusion in Captain America 4. It is not clear whether we will see him partnering with his bittersweet pal, Sam Wilson, in that project. That’s why we need him in the Thunderbolts film.
Baron Zemo
The addition of Baron Zemo will certainly stress out other members of Thunderbolts. In the comic world, the character is prominent for summoning other powerful members like Beetle, Moonstone, Fixer, and Screaming Mimi in his Masters of Evil faction after the death of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four at the hands of the supervillain Onslaught. This gave Zemo an amazing opportunity to gain the public’s trust and sell all S.H.I.E.L.D’s secrets to the criminal underworld. All his teammates adopted new identities. Their group was transformed into the Thunderbolts.
People started taking Thunderbolts seriously and soon accepted them as their heroes. However, everything changes after the miraculous return of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. Soon, Zemo reveals his evil plan to the world. Makers of the upcoming Thunderbolts movie have a fantastic chance of including the modified version of this storyline. Avengers are toast now. And people need a great superhero team to keep their hopes alive. This is where Zemo can enter and turn everything upside down.
