Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting foreign OTT films and shows such as ‘Old’, ‘The Witcher Season 2’, ‘The Hand of God’, and ‘Swan Song’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of the top five foreign titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Being the Ricardos (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 21st December)
Helmed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Aaron Sorkin, the film is a behind-the-scenes drama that happens over a week during the making of a sitcom show called ‘I Love Lucy’. The plot revolves around the complicated personal and professional relationship between Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem) and how they deal with a crisis that could severely affect their lives.
Emily in Paris Season 2 (Streaming on Netflix from 22nd December)
In a pleasant surprise for Chicago-based marketing executive Emily, she gets her dream job in Paris and relocates. She is assigned to redesign a French marketing company’s social media strategy from an American perspective. As she deals with a culture clash in a new country, she concurrently balances her workplace along with her personal life.
Don’t Look Up (Streaming on Netflix from 24th December)
Two astronomers (played by Leonardo Di Caprio and Jennifer Lawrence) make a shocking discovery about an approaching comet on its way to a devastating collision with Earth in just six months. Their attempt to warn the social media-obsessed world through a media tour ostensibly forms the rest of the film’s plot. The film features an ensemble cast that also includes Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, and Timothee Chalamet, amongst other talented performers.
Encanto (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 24th December)
Disney’s animated film ‘Encanto’ is a musical fantasy comedy that follows the story of a well-intentioned young girl named Mirabel Madrigal, who lives in the Columbian mountains in a magical land called Encanto with a family where everyone except her possesses a unique gift. But the ordinary girl Mirabel might prove to be her extraordinary family’s only hope after learning that the magic of Encanto is in grave danger.
The Silent Sea (Streaming on Netflix from 24th December)
Based on the series director Choi Hang-Yong‘s own short film ‘The Sea of Tranquility’ (2014), ‘The Silent Sea’ is a South Korean sci-fi show that revolves around a dangerous space exploration mission to the moon to investigate a now-abandoned research station on the moon.
