Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting foreign OTT films and shows such as ‘Being the Ricardos’, ‘Emily in Paris S2’, ‘Don’t Look Up’. ‘Encanto, and ‘The Silent Sea’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of the top five foreign titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
The Book of Boba Fett (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 29th December)
A part of the immensely popular Star Wars franchise, ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ is a spin-off show of Pedro Pascal starrer widely acclaimed series ‘The Mandalorian’. The show features Temuera Morrison as an armored bounty hunter Boba Fett alongside Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, a top-grade assassin. Together they explore the galaxy’s underworld and endeavor to seize their stake over the territory previously controlled by the erstwhile powerful crime lord and now deceased Jabba the Hutt.
Cobra Kai Season 4 (Streaming on Netflix from 31st December)
The series is set more than three decades after the events of the 1984 cult film ‘The Karate Kid’. While the film featured Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso in the role of the underdog protagonist and his adversary was Johnny Lawrence was played by William Zabka. But tables turn in the spin-off web series as the goings-on are narrated from Johnny Lawrence’s point of view in a universe where he becomes the underdog. The third season of ‘Cobra Kai’ concluded with Johnny Lawrence teaming up for the first time with Daniel LaRusso to jointly train their students for the next All-Valley Karate tournament against their common enemy John Kreese (played by Martin Kove).
Spencer (Streaming on Book My Show from 31st December)
Helmed by Pablo Larrain, the film features Kristen Stewart in the role of Princess Diana and ostensibly narrates an imagining of that part of Princess Diana’s life when she had decided to end her 10-year-old marriage with Prince Charles (played by Jack Farthing).
The Lost Daughter (Streaming on Netflix from 31st December)
This psychological drama movie is helmed by Maggie Gyllenhaal (Jake Gyllenhaal’s sister) in her feature film directorial debut and is based on Elena Ferrante’s book of the same name. In the film, Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman plays a middle-aged woman who goes on a seaside holiday in Italy. There, she gets obsessed by a mother-daughter duo which forces her to deal with her own unresolved past and the decisions she took as a young mother.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 1st January)
As the name suggests, this documentary is a retrospective special which marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the first Harry Potter film titled ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ (2001) of the cult franchise. It will feature the film’s trio of lead actors namely Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Stone alongside other actors and is set to include conversations amongst cast members besides featuring several interviews.
