Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Bali’, ‘Aarya Season 2’, ‘Aranyak’, ‘Golondaaj’, and ‘Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
The Whistleblower (Streaming on SonyLIV from 16th December)
The web series features ‘Bandish Bandits’ lead actor Ritwik Bhowmick alongside Ravi Kishan, Sonali Kulkarni, and Sachin Khadekar in important roles. The series is ostensibly inspired by the events of the 2013 Vyapam scam, which was an entrance exam, admission, and recruitment scam. It purportedly resulted in more than 1700 arrests and multiple deaths.
Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 17th December)
Helmed by proficient filmmaker Priyadarshan, the historical war film features veteran actor Mohanlal in the titular role of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Set in the 16th Century era, this period film is based on the fourth Kunjali Marakkar aka Mohammed Ali, who was the legendary admiral of the fleet of the Kozhikode (present-day Kerala) kingdom monarch – the Samoothiri.
Kurup (Streaming on Netflix from 17th December)
Directed by Srinath Rajendran, the Malayalam language biographical crime film features Dulquer Salmaan in the titular role of Sukumara Kurup, who is often described as the longest wanted criminal of Kerala on the run since the year 1984.
420 IPC (Streaming on Zee5 from 17th December)
‘The Stoneman Murders’ director and writer of ‘Section 375’ Manish Gupta has helmed this crime courtroom drama film. The film revolves around a Chartered Accountant (played by Vinay Pathak), who is arrested for the economic offense of cheque theft and forgery. How his defense lawyer (Rohan Vinod Mehra) fights his case ostensibly forms the rest of the film’s plot. The movie also features Ranvir Shorey and Gul Panag essaying the roles of the public prosecutor and the CA’s wife, respectively.
Decoupled (Streaming on Netflix from 17th December)
Directed by Hardik Mehta (Roohi) and created by eminent writer Manu Joseph (Serious Men), the comedy-drama show revolves around a contemporary married couple with a child – a writer (played by Madhavan) and a corporate start-up founder (Surveen Chawla) who have fallen out of love and intend to separate.
