The popularity of Korean dramas has sky-rocketed in the last few years. This genre has developed a dedicated fanbase, especially among young audiences. That’s why Netflix is taking advantage of this scenario by adding prominent old and highly-anticipated new K-dramas to its list of programming. A new K-drama show, Youth of May, will hit the streaming platform on July 20. Created by Moon jun-ha, the leading cast consists of Lee Do-hyun, Go Min-si, Lee Sang-yi, and Geum Sae-rok.

#5. It’s Okay Not To Be Okay

The show revolves around the brotherly duo of Moon Gang-tae (Kim Soo-hyun) and Moon Sang-tae (Oh Jung-se). They constantly move from town to town because of the latter’s autism. Gang-tae starts working as a caretaker in a psychiatric ward of the place they settle in. However, their lives take a dramatic turn after encountering Ko Moon-young (Seo Yea-ji), a prominent book writer with an antisocial personality disorder. Things get twistier after Moon-young develops feelings for Gang-tae.

#4. Crash Landing On You

This K-drama treasures a unique love story between a successful South Korean businesswoman, Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), and a North Korean army captain, Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin). The former accidentally lands in the North Korean portion of the Demilitarized Zone (DZ) while paragliding near the capital city of South Korea. Jeong-hyeok promises to hide her identity from the North Korean authorities despite the conflict between his country and Se-ri’s nation.

An out-of-the-blue family tragedy forces Cha Hyun-soo (Song Kang) to leave his home and move into an apartment. Soon, his life turns upside down after learning that different types of monsters are attacking humans. As a result, he gets trapped inside his apartment building. Along with other residents, Hyun-soo tries to save his life as long as he can by utilising various survival tactics. This show was viewed by 22 million+ subscribers within the first month of its release.

The show’s story is told through Na Hee-do’s diary after her daughter, Kim Min-chae, quits ballet and runs to her grandmother’s house. Kim discovers that her mother was a fencing prodigy in her teenage years. However, the 1997 Asian financial crisis ends up disbanding her school’s fencing team. Sometime later, she gets admitted to another school and soon becomes a member of the National Fencing Team. But Hee-do’s life takes a dramatic turn after meeting Baek Yi-jin. The latter’s dire financial condition forces him to do various part-time jobs. At ages 25 and 21, they fall in love with each other.

This Hwang Dong-hyuk’s creation shattered numerous streaming records upon its arrival, luring more than 142 million member households and gaining more than 1.7 billion hours of views within the first four weeks of its release. A total of 456 players dealing with deep financial hardships find themselves competing with one another in a series of dangerous children’s games to get their hands on the prize money worth ₩ 45.6 billion ($38 million).
