Top 5 Movies To Stream Online On Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! The preservation of our beloved planet and its resources has emerged as one of the major concerns for the survival of human beings. Prominent leaders and scientists from all around the world are devising new strategies to perform this job with excellent results. Plus, the world of cinema has bestowed some amazing movies to attract the attention of the common masses towards this crucial issue. To honour the Earth, we have concocted a list of top 5 movies to enjoy on Earth Day. Here they are!

5. Erin Brockovich (2000)

Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

Led by an outstanding performance from Julia Roberts, Erin Brockovich explores and dramatises the real-life incident of the titular character who filed a lawsuit against a globally popular energy corporation giant, PG&E. From 1952 to 1966, the company dispatched more than 350 million gallons of contaminated water into nearby ponds and other water resources in Hinkley, California. Roberts bagged the Oscar for her sensational performance in this Steven Soderbergh directional.

4.  Dark Waters (2019)

Streaming Platform: SonyLIV

The on-screen Incredible Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, plays Robert Bilott in this incredibly well-made film. Plus, it shares a lot of similarities to Julia Roberts’ Erin Brockovich. A defunct American chemical corporation, DuPont, was responsible for releasing toxic unregulated chemicals in a small of West Virginia, resulting in the untimely deaths of many animals. And Bilott emerged as the lawyer who single-handedly destroyed the entire company with his lawsuit. Apart from Ruffalo, Dark Waters has Anne Hathaway, Tim Robbins, Bill Camp, and many more in its cast.

3. Bambi (1942)

Streaming Platform: Disney+ Hotstar

Bambi is an all-time Disney classic that concentrates on a deer raised by other animals in the forest after the tragic demise of his mother, who lost her life at the hands of a hunter. This movie functions as an excellent blend of animal preservation and environmental consciousness. The hard-hitting emotional tone of this one may inspire people to think more about the innocent creatures living in forests or other natural habitats.

2. WALL-E (2008)

Streaming Platform: Disney+ Hotstar

Although, this Pixar gem leans more towards the romance of WALL-E and EVE. Still, it perfectly displays that our precious planet may turn into a land of garbage if we don’t start protecting our natural resources right now. WALL-E is a junk but only operational robot left on Earth in the film. On the other hand, EVE is an advanced probe sent by Axiom, an intergalactic mothership consisting of the remaining humans.

1. Interstellar (2014)

Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

This Christopher Nolan masterpiece flawlessly displays a futuristic Earth where crop blights and sudden dust storms have severely deteriorated the planet’s habitability. NASA chooses Cooper to go on an interstellar mission to discover new planets for human survival. Apart from focusing on environmental conservation, the movie also shows the complicated but unbreakable bond between a father and his daughter. It won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the 87th Academy Awards.
