Netflix India has delivered plenty of shows to Indian viewers since its debut in the country. Yes, some of them had intriguing premises and top-notch performances. Still, no one managed to generate the hype or buzz as Sacred Games did. The unexpected but grand success of Sacred Games provided a perfect platform for Netflix to take the top spot in the Indian streaming market. But the shows that came after SG were not that spectacular. To make things worse, the streaming giant kept its subscription prices high when other OTT platforms started streaming their content with low subscription charges. Soup (Release Date: TBA)

The upcoming dark-comedy crime series has Udta Punjab fame, Abhishek Chaubey, at the helm with Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sen Sharma as the leads. Macguffin Pictures is handling all the production duties here. It is not the first time we are witnessing Chaubey working for Netflix. He has worked in a couple of Netflix originals: served as a producer in Raat Akeli Hai and directed an episode named ‘Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa’ in Ray.

Heeramandi (Release Date: TBA)

One of the finest directors in Bollywood, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is ready to explore the OTT universe with this period drama series. It revolves around a group of courtesans in Heeramandi, a district in Lahore during the pre-Independence times. Bhansali has already hailed the show as epic and first of its kind, made with a grand production cost. It will explore the lives of courtesans who work in kothas (bordellos). The show treasures a star-studded cast of Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chaddha, Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta, Manisha Koirala, and Huma Qureshi.

CAT (Release Date: 2022)

After going one-on-one with Chris Hemsworth in Sam Hargrave’s Extraction, Randeep Hooda will return to Netflix in the forthcoming revenge drama instalment, CAT. Balwinder Singh Janjua sat on the director’s chair for this one. The helmer is prominent for his screenplay duties in Mubarakan and Saand Ki Aankh. The actor dropped the first promotional poster for the show almost 3 months ago via his Instagram account. In the caption, he wrote, “Where do you go when there’s nowhere to hide? I couldn’t be more excited to announce #CAT, where drugs, deceit and danger come together to unravel chaos.”

Rana Naidu (Release Date: 2022)

The uncle-nephew duo of Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati is enough to do wonders for Netflix India. This show will function as the official adaptation of Liev Schreiber’s Ray Donovan series. The plot revolves around a guy, Rana Naidu, who has earned a reputation for solving the problems of celebrities, prominent sports figures, politicians, and business tycoons. The rest of the cast includes Surveen Chawla, Abhishek Banerjee, Sushant Singh, Ashish Vidyarthi, Gaurav Chopra, and many more.

Guns and Gulaabs (Release Date: TBA)

The talented helming duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK is entering again into the world of OTT. However, this time it is for Netflix India. ‘Guns and Gulaabs’ is set in the 90s and guarantees to deliver an entertaining blend of humour, innocence, romance, and thriller. Additionally, it possesses a sensational cast of Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, Dulquer Salmaan, Gulshan Devaiah, and TJ Bhanu. Apart from their directional duties, Raj and DK are also helping the penning down the show’s script along with Sumit Arora and Suman Kumar.
