Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Bob Biswas’, ‘Inside Edge S3’, ‘Sivakumarin Sabadham’, and ‘Kotigobba 3’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Bali (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 9th December)
It’s a Marathi horror movie helmed by Vishal Furia, who had recently directed another horror flick ‘Chhorii’. When the seven-year-old son of a widowed father faints and is taken to the hospital, he starts conversing with a nurse who he says lives in a deserted section of the hospital.
Aarya Season 2 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 10th December)
Based on a Dutch series called ‘Penoza’, Aarya’s first season revolved around the titular protagonist (Sushmita Sen), and how she is forced to manage her husband’s (Chandrachur Singh in a wonderful cameo) illegal drug business after he is murdered by a mysterious killer. How the naïve housewife turns into a fierce woman in order to protect her family forms the rest of the show’s plot.
The show’s second season will ostensibly narrate how the past deeds of Sushmita Sen’s titular character as a ‘working mother’ have come back to haunt her and are now after her life.
Aranyak (Streaming on Netflix from 10th December)
The upcoming Netflix crime drama series starring Raveena Tandon, Saurav Khurana, and Ashutosh Rana revolves around the investigation of a missing foreign teenage tourist by two disparate cops which leads them to a mythical killer creature lurking in the forest.
Golondaaj (Streaming on Hoichoi from 10th December)
Helmed by Dhrubo Banerjee, this Bengali period sports drama movie is based on the inspiring real-life story of the ‘Father of Indian Football’ – Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari. The film features the popular Bengali actor Dev in the titular role of the legendary football player.
Ashes on a Road Trip (Streaming on SonyLIV from 10th December)
It’s a dark comedy film that follows a Pune-based joint family’s road journey undertaken to immerse the ashes of their recently deceased patriarch only after which they can open a mysterious envelope given by him. However, the road trip is accompanied by unexpected revelations and old secrets which threaten to ruffle their inter-familial relationships.
Pushpaka Vimanam (Streaming on Aha Video from 10th December)
This part dark-comedy part investigative thriller movie revolves around a newly married middle-class man (played by Anand Deverakonda), who is a Maths teacher at a government school, and how his life takes an unexpected turn when his wife apparently elopes with her former lover. Ironically, he begins to know more about her wife in her absence.
Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam (Streaming on Zee5 from 10th December)
Directed by British-Indian filmmaker Meenu Gaur, it’s an anthology series featuring six stories that revolve around seven ordinary women and how they deal with their problems in extraordinary ways. The series features Sarwat Gilani, Faiza Gillani, Sanam Saeed, and Eman Suleman amongst others.
