Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting foreign OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Barry Season 3’, ‘Gaslit’, ‘Soundtrack #1’, ‘Ozark S4 Part 2’, and ‘Tokyo Vice’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up for release. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top foreign titles streaming on Indian OTT platforms from this week.
The Circle Season 4 (Streaming on Netflix from 4th May)
Hosted by Michelle Buteau, ‘The Circle’ is a reality competition show where participating contestants compete amongst themselves to win the popularity war by communicating through the titular social network app. But they do so without actually meeting each other by either playing themselves or by portraying them as someone they wish.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Streaming on Voot from 5th May)
Set during the decade before the events of the hit 1960s sci-fi series ‘Star Trek: The Original Series’, the ten-part show follows the space adventures of the crew of the starship USS Enterprise comprising Captain Christopher Pike, Science Officer Spock, and Number One.
Clark (Streaming on Netflix from 5th May)
The six-part crime biopic series is based on the life of the infamous and controversial Swedish criminal Clark Oloffson, whose criminal activities inspired the term ‘Stockholm Syndrome’. The show is based on Clark’s autobiography. Bill Skarsgard has essayed the titular role in the miniseries.
The Pentaverate (Streaming on Netflix from 5th May)
The six-part comedy series features Primetime Emmy winner Mike Myers as a Canadian news reporter. The story is set against the backdrop of a secret society that has been controlling world events since the 1347 Black Plague for the greater good.
Great Freedom (Streaming on Mubi from 6th May)
The Austrian drama movie is set amidst the backdrop of post-World War II Germany where freedom is still hard to come by. The film’s plot revolves around Hans who is repeatedly put behind bars for violating a 19th-century homosexuality law. Over a period of time, Hans forms a unique relationship with his cellmate Viktor, who is serving a life imprisonment sentence.
The Takedown (Streaming on Netflix from 6th May)
The French action-comedy movie is a sequel to the 2012 film ‘On the Other Side of the Tracks’. The plotline follows two disparate cops Ousmane Diakité (Omar Sy) and François Monge (Laurent Lafitte) who are forced to team-up again after ten years. Their new case together is about a drug deal, but it turns out to be a case with higher stakes and a larger conspiracy than the mismatched duo had imagined.
