Top Indian OTT Titles Releasing This Week: Jana Gana Mana & More

Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Toolsidas Junior’, ‘Attack’, ‘Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi’, ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’, and ‘Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam’, to name a few.

Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.

9 Hours (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 2nd June)

Somewhat reminiscent of ‘Money Heist’, the Telugu language web series revolves around a group of three prisoners who hatch a virtually impossible plan to escape from the prison followed by a bank heist. But they have only nine hours to execute the plan and come back in time before their absence is noticed at the prison.

Jana Gana Mana (Streaming on Netflix from 2nd June)

The socio-political vigilante thriller revolves around an investigation headed by an upright cop ACP Sajjan (and Suraj Venjaramoodu) into the alleged rape and murder of a popular college professor. The film changes gears in the second half as it delves into the courtroom genre with Adv. Aravind Swaminathan (Prithviraj Sukumaran) taking the centre stage. The story portrays the idea of law and justice from the contrasting perspectives of the two protagonists – the cop and the lawyer.

Aashram Season 3 (Streaming on MX Player from 3rd June)

Helmed by Prakash Jha, the show’s plot follows a deceitful preacher Baba Nirala (Bobby Deol), who runs an Aashram in the fictional town of Kashipur. His devotees, including a lower caste woman Pammi, blindly follow the former conman. But when a skeleton is found in the adjacent forest, all clues point towards the Aashram. Will the Aashram and its illegal activities be exposed considering the self-proclaimed Godman has now become more power-hungry and fearless than ever?

Jungle Cry (Streaming on Lionsgate Play from 3rd June)

Helmed by Sagar Ballary, the sports drama film is based on a true story and follows a group of twelve orphaned and underprivileged tribal kids from the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences in Orissa. The plot focuses on the glorious victory of the underdogs at the Under-14 Rugby World Cup tournament and that too with just four months of training. The film features Abhay Deol in an important role.

Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam (Streaming on Aha Video from 3rd June)

The film’s plot revolves around a 30-plus man named Arjun (played by Vishwak Sen), who runs a money lending business and wants to get married but is unable to find a bride. After some time, he finally gets engaged to a pretty woman named Madhavi (Ruksaar Dhillon). But his happiness is short-lived when the bride suddenly goes missing.

The Eken (Streaming on Hoichoi from 3rd June)

Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the mystery thriller movie follows the adventures of a Bengali detective named Ekendra (Anirban Chakrabarti), who travels to Darjeeling where he gets involved in a missing photograph case of a popular actress while he also works on a murder investigation.
