Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Code M Season-2’, ‘The Broken News’, ‘Ardh’, ‘Don’, and ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Avatara Purusha: Part 1 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 14th June)
It’s a supernatural thriller whose plot revolves around how an Ayurvedic expert Rama’s only son Karna goes missing during a trip with his aunt Yashoda. Years later, Yashoda’s daughter Siri vows to find Karna and to mend the broken ties between her mother and Rama. But the story takes a drastic turn when a man named Anila masquerades as Rama’s son with hidden motives.
Jayamma Panchayathi (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 14th June)
Helmed by Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu, the Telugu language rural drama movie features Suma Kanakala in the titular role of Jayamma, a middle-aged doting homemaker who fights to get her husband Gauri Naidu (Devi Prasad) treated for an ailment in a village.
Bandon Mein Tha Dum (Streaming on Voot Select from 16th June)
Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey (Director – A Wednesday, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story) has helmed this four-part documentary series which focusses on India’s recent test-series win against the formidable Australian cricket team. The show would narrate the Indian Cricket team’s unknown struggles and feature behind-the-scenes clips about how the men in blue fought for the coveted Border-Gavaskar trophy in their opponents’ home turf.
Salt City (Streaming on SonyLIV from 16th June)
Helmed by Rishabh Anupam Sahay, the web series focusses on the complicated relationships amongst the member of the Bajpai family who reside in a big city. The show features a talented cast including Piyush Mishra, Divyendu Sharma and Gauahar Khan, amongst others.
She Season 2 (Streaming on Netflix from 17th June)
The show’s plot revolves around a female police constable named Bhumika (played by Aaditi Pohankar), who is sent on an undercover mission to expose a drug cartel. Along the way and while dealing with her personal problems, the poor cop learns how her sexuality can be a game changer in her life.
Masoom (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 17th June)
The six-episode psychological thriller series is a remake of the Irish show ‘Blood’ and features Boman Irani and Samara Tijori as a father-daughter duo. The show’s story is set in Punjab and follows how the daughter wants to uncover the stark truth behind her mother’s mysterious death – a buried secret that everyone wishes to be remained hidden from her.
Suzhal (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 17th June)
Set amidst the backdrop of the grave looting festival Mayanakollia, the investigative thriller series revolves around a missing young girl in a small place in Tamil Nadu. The show features parallel plotlines of that of a woman hellbent on finding her sister, investigation by cops, and a father who is desperately trying to find his daughter. It features Aishwarya Rajesh, Kathir, R Parthipan and Sriya Reddy, amongst others.
Feludar Goyendagiri (Streaming on Hoichoi from 17th June)
Based on the character of Satyajit Ray’s iconic investigator Feluda and his story ‘Darjeeling Jomjomat’, the upcoming show has been directed by gifted filmmaker Srijit Mukherji and features Tota Roy Chowdhury in the lead role.
Fingertip Season-2 (Streaming on Zee5 from 17th June)
Helmed by Shivakar Srinivasan, the tech thriller revolves around the lives of six persons who are in some way affected by the digital world and how their lives intersect with each other. Some of these characters are portrayed as victims while some are the wrongdoers in a world replete with cybercrime.
Menaka Season-2 (Streaming on Manorama Max from 17th June)
The show’s opening season revolved around how a team of efficient cops headed by Dy.SP Jacob Anookkaran (played by Ashwin Kumar) and they try to stop seven perfectly planned murders. Narrated in the past and the present, the new season comes with the intriguing tagline “Can a dead man solve a crime in the past?”
O2 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 17th June)
Directed by GS Viknesh, the Tamil language thriller features Nayanthara as a distressed mother fighting for the survival of his ailing son with oxygen support after their bus falls into a pit and the passengers are left with just twelve hours to find a way.
Recce (Streaming on Zee5 from 17th June)
Set in the 1990s period in Tadipatri village, the seven-part crime thriller show follows the investigation into the murder of municipal chairman Varadarajulu by senior inspector Lenin (played by Sriram).
Operation Romeo (Streaming on Netflix from 18th June)
Directed by Shashank Shah, it’s the Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie ‘Ishq Not a Love Story’. Set in Mumbai, the film’s plot follows the story of two lovers Aditya (Siddhant Gupta) and Neha (Vedika Pinto), who find themselves at the mercy of two cops who turn their romantic date into an unforgettable nightmare.
