Friday is invariably an exciting day for OTT viewers and today is no exception. Some eagerly anticipated Indian and foreign films and series have already been or will be released today as well on various Indian OTT platforms. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top streaming titles (in no particular order) that are already out or will be out on Indian OTT platforms today.
Jaadugar (Streaming on Netflix)
The sports comedy drama movie revolves around a small-time struggling magician named Magic Meenu (played by Jitendra Kumar), who lives in Neemuch town in MP. Despite no interest in sports, Meenu must now lead a down and out football team and win the coveted inter-colony football tournament – in order to marry his love interest (Arushi Sharma). The movie also features Jaaved Jaafery in an important role of a sports coach.
Persuasion (Streaming on Netflix)
Based on Jane Austin’s novel, the Netflix film follows a modern woman Anne Elliot (played by Dakota Johnson), who was once convinced to break her engagement with the attractive but socially inferior naval officer Frederick Wentworth, which had broken his heart. Around eight years later Anne meets Frederick again but this time, tables have turned as Frederick is now an affluent war hero and still a highly eligible bachelor. Will Anne get a second chance?
Shoorveer (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)
The action-packed military drama series revolves around the story of an elite team Hawks which comprises the best officers of the navy, the army, and the air force. The task force is especially trained to become a one-of-its-kind first defence against the country’s enemies. The show features a talented cast that includes Makarand Deshpande, Manish Chaudhari and Regina Cassandra, amongst others.
Janhit Mein Jaari (Streaming on Zee5)
Helmed by Jai Basantu Singh, the film revolves around a young girl named Manokamna Tripathi a.k.a. Mannu (played by Nushrratt Bharuccha), who takes up the tough job of selling condoms in a small place in Madhya Pradesh. The film’s basic plotline focuses on how Mannu overcomes the challenges despite the social taboo and her own family’s resistance. The movie also features Vijay Raaz, Tinnu Anand, and Brijendra Kala in important roles.
Kolkatar Harry (Streaming on Zee5)
The Bengali language family entertainer film revolves around the endearing bond between a ten-year-old named Titli (Oishika Guhathakurta) and a cab driver and gifted storyteller Harinath Patra (Soham Chakraborty) aka Harry. The film narrates how the Harry Potter buff Harry performs magic on Kolkata streets and later gets an idea to open a Story Café.
Maa Neella Tank (Streaming on Zee5)
Directed by Lakshmi Soujanya, the Telugu language comedy web series narrates the story of a cop (Sushanth), who is given the task of finding a girl named Surekha (Priya Anand) after Sarpanch Kodandam’s son Gopal threatens to take his life. However, the goings-on take an amusing turn when the cop himself falls in love with the girl.
Veetla Vishesham (Streaming on Zee5)
The comedy drama movie is a Tamil language remake of 2018 film ‘Badhaai Ho’. The film’s plot revolves around a middle-class family’s embarrassing dilemma after a middle-aged mother with grown-up kids accidentally gets pregnant.
Comicstaan Season-3 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
The stand-up comedy competition web series is back with an eight-episode third season and will feature four judges, seven mentors, two hosts and eight new contestants. Armed with a different format and a new host Kushal Kapila, the talent hunt show will have contestants vying to outwit each other under the guidance of capable mentors.
Alba (Streaming on Netflix)
The Spanish drama follows the story of the titular protagonist Alba (Elena Rivera), who wakes up on a beach with a shocking revelation that she was gang raped by four boys, but she does not remember the incident. Later, she finds out that the rapists are her boyfriend Bruno’s close friends.
Backstreet Rookie (Streaming on Netflix)
Based on the webtoon ‘Convenience Store Saet-byul’, the Korean romantic drama follows the story of a girl named Jung Saet-Byul (Kim You-Jung), who gets attracted to Choi Dae-Hyun (Ji Chang-Wook) after their chance encounter. Years later, the same girl applies for a part-time job at a convenience store managed by the same man.
Maamanithan (Streaming on Aha Video)
The Tamil language drama movie features Vijay Sethupathi in the role of an ordinary and honest man named Radha Krishnan, who drives an auto-rickshaw for a living. He wants to provide a decent life to his wife and children. However, he gets duped by a fraudster in a real-estate deal which forces him to abscond. How he gets his life back on track forms the rest of the film’s plotline.
Don’t Make Me Go (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
The heart-warming family drama follows a terminally ill single father (played by John Cho), who undertakes an adventurous and meaningful road journey with his young daughter in order to find her mother. Along the way, the father tries to teach his teenage daughter things which might help her for the rest of her life.
Sammathame (Streaming on Aha Video)
The urban romance drama follows a small-town techie Krishna (Kiran Abbavaram), who has grown up in her mother’s absence. Krishna relocates to Hyderabad and there, he falls for a girl named Saanvi (Chandini Chowdary). He wants to marry her to compensate for her mother’s absence, but issues arise when the girl turns out to be different from his expectations. How Krishna deals with his insecurities forms the film’s basic plot.
X=Prem (Streaming on Hoichoi)
Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Srijit Mukherji, the romantic sci-fi movie follows the story of two lovers Khilat (Anindya Sengupta) and Joyee (Shruti Das). But after an accident, Khilat loses his memory of ten years which includes his romantic relationship with Joyee. They take the help of an experimental technology which promises to restore his lost memory, but things do not go as expected. Can the lovers get their old life back?
Kunjeldho (Streaming on Zee5)
It’s a campus comedy romantic movie which features Asif Ali as the titular character Kunjeldho, who falls in love with his classmate Niveditha (Gopika Udayan). The goings-on take a turn when the girl gets pregnant.
The Ambush (Streaming on Lionsgate Play)
Helmed by Pierre Morel, the Arabic action war film follows the true story of Emirati soldiers who get trapped in a valley and how a rescue squad is sent on a dangerous mission to retrieve the trapped soldiers from the hostile territory.
Younger (Streaming on Voot Select)
Based on Pamela Redmond Satran’s 2005 novel of the same name, the comedy drama show revolves around the personal and professional life of a 40-year-old divorced woman named Liza Miller (played by Sutton Foster). She finds it tough to get a job at her age, so she poses to be younger than she actually is.
Forever Summer Hamptons (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
The reality series revolves around the lives of a group of college students from different walks of life from New York City and how they work at a seaside eatery during the day and party at the night.
