Friday is invariably an exciting day for OTT viewers and today is no exception. Some eagerly anticipated Indian and foreign films and series have already been or will be released today as well on various Indian OTT platforms. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top streaming titles (in no particular order) that are already out or will be out on Indian OTT platforms today.
Samrat Prithviraj (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
Based on the Braj Bhasha epic poem ‘Prithviraj Raso’, the film is a biopic of the legendary warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan. It showcases the king’s early life, military achievements, marriage to the beautiful princess Sanyogita and his fierce battle with Muhammad of Ghor. Besides Akshay Kumar, the film features Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar as Sanyogita, Sonu Sood as Chand Bardai, Sanjay Dutt as Kaka Kanha, Ashutosh Rana as Jayachandra, and Manav Vij as the ruthless antagonist Muhammad Ghori.
Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 (Streaming on Netflix)
The fourth season of the sci-fi horror series would follow the aftereffects of the devastating Battle of Starcourt at the Hawkins town in Indiana. The show’s young protagonists are now living separately and trying to move on in their lives. At this juncture, a long-buried, supernatural threat that connects everything, emerges on Earth and the Upside Down.
The movie follows the daredevil adventures of a fearless agent named Agni (Kangana Ranaut), who is given a deadly mission to track and eliminate a ruthless human and arms trafficker Rudraveer (Arjun Rampal).
The Terminal List (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
The action thriller series is based on a book (series) written by former Navy SEAL Jack Carr. The first book of the series was ‘The Terminal List’ while the other three being ‘True Believer’, ‘Savage Son’ and ‘The Devil’s Hand’. The plot revolves around a Navy SEAL, who uses his unique warfare skills to avenge the deaths of his loved ones. Chris Pratt would be essaying the role of the protagonist – Navy SEAL James Reece.
Virata Parvam (Streaming on Netflix)
Directed by Venu Udugala, it’s a period romantic action drama set against the backdrop of the Naxal movement in the Telangana region in the 1990s period. The film’s plot follows a strong-willed woman named Vennela (Sai Pallavi), who sets out to find the writer of revolutionary poems and with whom she has fallen in love. The man is revealed to be commander of armed Naxal forces Comrade Ravana (Rana Daggubati) aka Aranya. Vennela’s valiant efforts to find Aranya and how her life changes after she meets him forms the rest of the film’s plot.
Helmed by Paul Verhoeven (Director – RoboCop, Hollow Man), the biographical drama movie is set in the 17th century and revolves around a nun in Italy named Benedetta Carlini (played by Virginie Efira), who develops a forbidden romantic relationship with another nun.
Rudrabinar Obhishaap Season-2 (Streaming on Hoichoi)
The musical mystery web series is a spin-off from Tansener Tanpura and narrates the story of two Indian classical music schools namely Rudrapur and Anandagarh and how they are connected with each other through a dark past. The show’s lead actors Rupa Chatterjee and Vikram Chatterjee are back as Shruti and Alap with new adventures to unearth the mystery surrounding Rudraveena and the curse behind it.
Moonfall (Streaming on Lionsgate Play)
The sci-fi film is directed by disaster films specialist Roland Emmerich. The plot revolves around the desperate efforts of NASA executive Jo Fowler (Halley Berry), former astronaut Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley) to save Earth from its own Moon after it mysteriously leaves its orbit.
Shut Up Sona (Streaming on Zee5)
Helmed by Deepti Gupta, the National Award-winning documentary film revolves around the outspoken playback singer Sona Mohapatra and focuses on three years of the singer’s life as she fought for an equal representation of women in the music industry.
Anya’s Tutorial (Streaming on Aha Video)
The cyber-horror series revolves around the two sisters Lavanya (played by Nivedhithaa Sathish) and Madhu (Regina Cassandra) and their strained relationship. Madhu is unhappy about Lavanya’s profession as a social influencer. But when Lavanya starts her online tutorial, it sets off a series of sinister incidents and the sisters must face their demons to deal with the deadly paranormal threat.
Miya Biwi Aur Murder (Streaming on MX Player)
The web series follows the story of a dysfunctional married couple Priya (Manjari Fadnnis) and Jayesh (Rajeev Khandelwal) who have been together for seven years. But now, they must reconcile their differences for seven gruelling hours in a night full of feared criminals, thieves, corrupt cops, and dead bodies.
The Malayalam language movie revolves around a cybersecurity expert named Radhika Balan (played by Rajisha Vijayan), who decides to take the matter into her own hands when she herself becomes a victim of a cyber crime and is being stalked by criminals.
A Violent Tale (Streaming on Saina Play)
Helmed by Arun Lal, the low budget crime thriller movie showcases how the lives of two cops, two brothers, a hitman, a criminal, a girl, and a group of killers intersect amidst the bloodbath and violence.
Babloo Bachelor (Streaming on Shemaroo Me)
The film’s story revolves around UP-based bachelor named Babloo (Sharman Joshi), who is on a quest to find the right girl for marriage. After several rejections, Babloo finally finds a girl but on their wedding night, the bride elopes to fulfil her acting dreams in Mumbai. Babloo follows her to Mumbai, but interestingly, he meets another girl he had rejected earlier.
