Some eagerly anticipated Indian and foreign films and series have already been or will be released today as well on various Indian OTT platforms. Monica, O My Darling (Streaming on Netflix)
Directed by Vasan Bala, the dark comedy crime thriller movie features Rajkummar Rao as a robotics expert who gets involved in a passionate affair but eventually ends up being blackmailed. Desperate to get out of the mess, he teams up with a bunch of unlikely allies and hatches a plan to execute the perfect murder. The movie also features Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte, and Sikander Kher, amongst others.
Helmed by veteran filmmaker Sudhir Mishra and co-directed by Sachin Mamta Krishn, the 12-part socio-political action-drama series is a remake of the acclaimed Israeli show ‘Fauda’. Set amidst the backdrop of Kashmir in the year 2017, the series revolves around a Special Ops Unit and their desperate efforts to catch an elusive dangerous man and to thwart planned attacks in the beautiful valley. It features Manav Vij, Rajat Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, and Shashank Arora, amongst others.
Rorschach (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)
Directed by Nissam Bashir, the psychological thriller movie derives its title from psychological inkblot test bearing the same name. It features veteran actor Mammootty in the role of a man named Luke Antony, whose wife disappears in a forest. He reports it to the authorities and later begins his own quest to find his missing wife. But there is more to the story than meets the eye.
Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy (Streaming on Zee5)
The web series follows the story of a proficient and resourceful Indian secret agent, who enters Pakistan after the Sino-Indian war and how he provided important intelligence information and the way he tried to avert a possible attack planned by the enemy nation. The series features Prakash Raj, Adil Hussain, and Zain Khan Durrani in pivotal roles.
Iravin Nizhal (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
Helmed by R. Parthiban, the Tamil language thriller movie is being touted as Indian cinema’s first non-linear single shot film. The movie features Parthiban as the hardened protagonist, who is portrayed as a film financier who has suffered from an extremely tough and brutal childhood. How the circumstances turn him into an unethical and practical person and the people who contributed to his life story and his circumstances, ostensibly forms the film’s underlying premise.
Capturing the Killer Nurse (Streaming on Netflix)
The documentary film focuses on the chilling story of an ICU nurse named Charles Cullen, who was accused of killing several patients in multiple hospitals in the USA under his care.
Poochandi (Streaming on Netflix)
The horror thriller movie revolves around a journalist Murugan (RJ Ramana), who is looking for real life ghost stories during his visit to Malaysia. During this time, the protagonist must face a terrifying supernatural entity, which is troubling a bunch of friends.
Ori Devuda..! (Streaming on Aha Video)
Helmed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the romantic comedy movie revolves around two close friends Arjun and Anu (played by Vishwak Sen and Mithila Palkar), who eventually tie the knot. However, after one year following their marriage, Arjun realizes that he has made the wrong decision by marrying his best friend and applies for a divorce.
Is That Black Enough for You?!? (Streaming on Netflix)
Directed by Elvis Mitchell, the documentary film sheds some light on the history of Black cinema and the contribution of African American films which were released during the 1970s period.
Sinam (Streaming on Netflix)
The crime thriller movie features Arun Vijay in the role of an upright cop, who lives in Chennai with his wife and daughter. After his wife goes missing, the police officer begins to investigate the case and find her whereabouts.
Ancient Apocalypse (Streaming on Netflix)
The eight-part investigative, globe-trotting docuseries features Journalist Graham Hancock, who tries to uncover the truth behind the possible existence of highly advanced civilization from thousands of years ago.
Savings Account (Streaming on Zee5)
Helmed by Raj Chanda, the action crime thriller movie features Ankush Hazra as a man named Abhimanyu who enters a busy bank to open a savings account. The story takes a U-turn when all persons inside the bank premises are taken as hostages at gunpoint.
The Bengal Scam: Bima Kando (Streaming on Hoichoi)
Directed by Abhirup Ghosh, the thriller web series follows the story of two insurance agents Samudra (Kinjal Nanda) and Mohona (Sonamoni Saha) who get involved with a perplexing ‘hit and run’ case of claim in a village called Chilpota.
Hot Seat (Streaming on Lionsgate Play)
Directed by James Cullen Bressack, the action thriller film’s title refers to the chair that has been planted with a bomb by an unknown person and the young man on the titular hot seat is a former hacker, who must break into a sophisticated banking system to save his life. That’s where Mel Gibson’s character comes into play as he must enter the booby-trapped building in a race against time to get the ex-hacker off the hot seat.
My Father’s Dragon (Streaming on Netflix)
The animated fantasy adventure film is based on Ruth Stiles Gannett’s 1948 book of the same name. The film’s plot follows a young boy, Elmer Elevator, who travels to the Wild Island in search of a captive dragon.
