The on-screen Sam Carpenter, Melissa Barrera, has been fired from Scream 7 due to her latest Instagram posts being considered antisemitic. Spyglass has released a statement regarding this scenario, highlighting its “zero tolerance for antisemitism” approach. The statement also strongly criticizes the usage of false references to ethnic cleansing, genocide, the holocaust, or any other topic that shares a connection with hate speech.
Fans have started rallying behind Barrera on social media, as many of them believe that the actress’ recent comments are an act of bravery amidst the ongoing situation between Palestine and Israel.
Meanwhile, we have selected a few actresses who could replace Melissa Barrera in Scream 7. Here are some of them:
Katherine Langford
After rising to global fame through Netflix’s ‘13 Reasons Why’ series, Katherine Langford also worked in several brilliant films such as Love, Simon (2018), Knives Out (2019), and Spontaneous (2020). The Australian actress has a mass appeal among younger audiences. Her presence in Scream 7 could enhance the franchise’s popularity among younger viewers.
Geraldine Viswanathan
This Australian performer has managed to find a spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Generation Talent list. She has given brilliant performances in numerous flicks, like Blockers (2018), Hala (2019), Bad Education (2019), The Beanie Bubble, and more. Her phenomenal acting talent establishes her as a strong contender for the role of Sam Carpenter.
Maika Monroe
Maika Monroe is another possible talent that may appear in Scream 7 as Barrera’s replacement. Her sensational performance in It Follows (2014) instantly made her a fan-favorite performer. She is also popular for her work in After Everything (2018), Honey Boy (2019), Watcher (2022), and more.
Chloe Grace Moretz
Commencing her acting career as a child artist in The Amityville Horror (2005), Chloe Grace Moretz is a popular face among the younger generation. We can call her a young ‘Scream Queen’ at this point. She has worked on numerous horror projects, such as Wicked Little Things (2006), Let Me In (2010), Carrie (2013), Suspiria (2018), and Shadow in the Cloud (2020). This scenario makes her a perfect replacement for Barrera.
