Tovino Thomas’ Godha To Get Hindi Remake, Female Lead Locked!

Tovino Thomas‘ Malayalam film “Godha” received a lot of love when it released back in 2017. The refreshing comedy drama, set in the backdrop of wrestling, won the hearts of Malayalam film audiences. The sports drama film is now all set to get a Hindi remake. Word on the ground is that the Hindi remake of Godha will be directed by Basil Joseph, who had also helmed the Malayalam film.

Interestingly, Wamiqa Gabbi, the female lead of the Malayalam original, will play the lead in its Hindi remake too. The hunt is on for a suitable male lead to take the place of Tovino Thomas from the original. Wamiqa Gabbi is fast climbing the ladder of popularity and success in the entertainment industry. After making a mark in Punjabi and South films, she has entered the Hindi content space too with a bang. She landed the lead role of Sivagami in Netflix’s epic and ambitious show, “Baahubali: Before The Beginning”, and has been cast in Anushka Sharma’s Netflix show, “Mai”. She was recently seen in Disney Plus Hotstar’s well-received show, “Grahan”.

Godha is a Malayalam film set in the world of wrestling, and features Gabbi as a young Punjabi girl who wants to make her mark in wrestling. Godha boasts a layered narrative that touches upon many topics – patriarchy, young vs old generations, finding one’s potential and goal in life, and so much more. It stars Tovino Thomas, Wamiqa Gabbi, Aju Varghese and Renji Panicker in primary roles.
