Streaming giant Netflix has just revealed the direct-to-OTT release date of the Tovino Thomas starrer eagerly anticipated superhero movie ‘Minnal Murali’. The film will start streaming from 24th December on Netflix during the Christmas holiday period. The announcement post was marked with the words “24th December. It’s a Christmas date. You and us, watching Minnal Murali together. Cation: Some sparks may fly.”
The release date announcement post was accompanied by an adorable 24-second teaser video which featured an animated version of the titular superhero Minnal Murali standing on top of a Christmas tree holding an illuminated star, thereby marking the film’s release during the Christmas festival period.
The film is apparently set in the ‘90s and follows the superhero origin story of Jaison (played by Tovino Thomas), who is portrayed as a tailer from a small town in the state of Kerala. The ordinary man turns into a superhero and assumes the mantle of Minnal Murali after he is struck by a bolt of lightning, which gives him special powers. He ostensibly becomes the fastest man alive on Earth.
‘Minnal Murali’ will be released on Netflix in the Malayalam language with dubs in multiple languages namely Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English. The superhero action film lead by Tovino Thomas has been helmed by Basil Joseph and will also feature Guru Somasundaram, Harisree Ashokan, and Aju Varghese in important roles. It has been produced by Weekend Blockbusters (Sophia Paul).
Minnal Murali’s production commenced in December 2019 and the filming concluded in the month of July 2021. The film, which is being touted as the journey of good over evil, is finally releasing on 24th December 2021 on Netflix.
