Tamil film ‘Jiivi’ became a surprise hit in 2019, with its thrilling concept and intelligent premise. Fans of the film have been waiting eagerly for its sequel. To their delight, ‘Jiivi 2‘ is indeed happening. But to their surprise, ‘Jiivi 2’ will release directly on OTT, and not in the theatres. The film is slated to release on Aha Tamil soon. The streaming platform launched the trailer of ‘Jiivi 2’ this evening, but it has still not revealed the release date for the Tamil thriller.
Jiivi was a unique crime thriller, with elements of science fiction and fantasy infused into the story. Jiivi 2 picks up from where the debut film ended in a twist. Jiivi 2 will centre on how the life of crime affects Saravanan (Vetri), and what steps he takes to break the cycle, or should we say triangle, of crime, retribution and revenge.
The entire team of ‘Jiivi’ is back for ‘Jiivi 2’. VJ Gopinath, director of Jiivi, returns to helm the sequel, ‘Jiivi 2’. Cinematographer Praveen Kumar, editor Praveen Kumar, and music composer K. S. Sundaramurthy, all three worked on Jiivi, and are now back for Jiivi 2. The primary cast of the movie returns too. Vetri, Karunakaran, Monica Chinnakotla, Rohini, Ashwini Chandrashekar and Mime Gopi, all part of Jiivi, will be seen in Jiivi 2.
Jiivi 2 will premiere on Aha Tamil soon. August 11 will be the most likely OTT release date for Jiivi 2, to take advantage of the extended Independence Day weekend. Have a look at the trailer of the film here –
