Prime Video has just dropped the trailer for its intriguing sci-fi thriller film, ‘Encounter’. The Amazon Original film had its world premiere on September 3, 2021, at the 48th Telluride Film Festival. ‘Encounter’ received stellar reviews at Telluride, with Michael Pearce’s taut direction and star Riz Ahmed’s powerful performance coming in for special praise from critics and audiences. ‘Encounter’ will release in select theaters from December 3. It will have a worldwide streaming release on Prime Video on 10th December, 2021. Since it’s a worldwide release, the film will arrive on Indian shores on the same date.
The trailer for ‘Encounter’ is testimony to the direction and performances, along with telling us more about the premise of the film. ‘Encounter’ is headlined by rising star, Riz Ahmed, who plays a decorated former Marine, and father of two young sons in the film. Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer joins him as a parole officer. Janina Gavankar, Rory Cochrane, Lucian-River Chauhan and Aditya Geddada comprise the rest of the cast. Michael Pearce has directed the film, from a script he co-wrote with Joe Barton.
‘Encounter’ is a creepy drama about extra-terrestrial parasites that invade the bodies of earthlings, and take control over them. After his wife (Janina Gavankar) gets infected, it’s a fight for survival for ex-marine Malik Kahn (Riz Ahmed), who must keep his two young sons safe. The trailer promises a riveting watch in ‘Encounter’.
The official synopsis of ‘Encounter’ from Amazon Prime Video reads,
“A decorated Marine goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from a mysterious threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys will need to leave their childhoods behind.”
