Disney Plus Hotstar has just dropped the official trailer for its hugely anticipated series ‘The Trial’. The platform has also revealed the release date of the series. ‘The Trial’ release date on Disney Plus Hotstar is 14th July, 2023. The series will stream all episodes at one go on Disney Plus Hotstar.
For those who don’t know, Disney Plus Hotstar’s ‘The Trial’ is the official Indian remake of well-received US show, ‘The Good Wife’. The series marks the web series debut of Bollywood actress, Kajol. It is not her OTT debut, though. Kajol has earlier appeared in two films that premiered on streaming – YouTube short film ‘Devi’ and Netflix’s ‘Tribhanga’.
Disney Plus Hotstar’s ‘The Trial’ centres on a homemaker (Kajol), whose world is shattered when her high profile lawyer husband (Jisshu Sengupta) is implicated in a sex scandal and corruption case, and sent to jail. The lady, a former advocate herself, is compelled to re-enter the legal world, and joins a law firm run by a former colleague (Aly Khan).
Going by the trailer of ‘The Trial’, the series seems to be a faithful remake of ‘The Good Wife’. Kajol looks poised and assured as a homemaker who’s suddenly thrust into the world of high-powered legal eagles. Sheeba Chaddha, Kubbra Sait, Gaurav Pandey, yesteryears actress Beena, among others, lend heft to the cast of ‘The Trial’.
‘The Trial’ is produced by Banijay Asia, in association with Ajay Devgn Films (ADFFilms). It is directed by Suparn S. Varma, of ‘The Family Man’ fame. The original series, ‘The Good Wife’ is a creation of US TV network, CBS Studios.
