After generating a considerable amount of buzz for it, Disney Plus Hotstar has finally revealed the release date for its latest direct to digital film, ‘Cadaver’. The platform also launched the trailer for the much-awaited Tamil film. ‘Cadaver’ will release on Disney Plus Hotstar on August 12, just in time for the extended Independence Day weekend. Disney Plus Hotstar took to social media to announce the OTT release date of Cadaver, and launch its trailer.
‘Cadaver’ stars Amala Paul as a forensic science expert, who’s faced with a confounding murder mystery. The police are clueless about the murder, which is when Amala Paul’s forensic expert is called upon to aid in the investigation. The tagline of the film says in the trailer, “Every corpse confides in a chosen listener”. She digs deeper into the murder, investigates the clues revealed by the dead woman’s corpse, gets previously buried bodies exhumed in a bid to hunt for further clues, she realises that there’s a deeper conspiracy at play.
Amala Paul plays the primary protagonist in ‘Cadaver’. The cast includes actors Riythvika, Harish Uthaman, Athulyaa Ravi, Adith Arun, and Ramdoss in crucial roles. Amala Paul has also produced ‘Cadaver’, under her film production banner, Amala Paul Productions. The film is directed by Anoop Panicker, from a script written by Abhilash Pillai.
Cadaver is said to be based on one of the hundreds of cases handled by late forensic surgeon Dr B Umadathan, known as the Sherlock Holmes of Kerala. Dr. B Umadathan has chronicled his most famous cases in his book ‘Oru Police Surgeonte Ormakurippukal’ (A Police Surgeon’s Memoirs), said to be the inspiration for several movies and series. ‘Cadaver’ was a film made for a theatrical release, but the post-pandemic scenario has compelled the makers to skip theatres and release the film directly on OTT.
